This is for everyone that reads this.
Anyone attempting to work on their own machine should own a shop manual. Why trust answers you get from strangers on message boards, when you can have the answer to every one of your questions right in front of you. Would you rather spend $30 for a worthwhile investment, or $500 when you make a mistake?
Purchase a shop manual, especially if your machine is over 10 years old, before they go out of print.

They're great bikes! A good mate has the earlier one - (955cc motor but called a Daytona 595 for some silly English reason). I've chased/led it for about 6-8,000 miles on my Honda Blackbird. He's racked up 50,000 pretty much completely trouble-free miles in total. My impressions - it out handles the Blackbird, especially in the twisty stuff, but is a bit down on grunt, as you'd expect. It has strong brakes, good headlight.
