hi mate ignore the other answers i dnt car what they say , my stereo did this and i sorted it fine , the stereo needs 10v - 15volts at all time when playing music , if there is a shortage below 10v tot he stereo it wil keep turning on and off until it can handle the power wich is very quite , i suggest you get a volt meter and test how many volts is going to your battery , they get a new battery if needed so or if not that re wire the wiring to the battery as it may be broken , cheers regards http://dtyssenaudioonline.com

You have a short on your volume switch or dial. It starts at one spot all the time right? You need to get a new stereo, or if you have the know-how, take it apart and clean the volume switch or dial with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and see if you can see a short and re-solder the connection. Probably easier to get a replacement. Good luck. Hope this helps

well, it could be a number of things. do you have any amps or subs connected to the head unit?? is the head unit factory or aftermarket? the most common issue we have at the shop is as simple as a bad ground, but if that was the case the level of the volume would have nothing to do with when it comes on or goes off. give it complete specs of what you have and it'd be a lot easier to help you out.

is this a factory radio,or aftermarket?.if aftermarket.who did the instalation?.did they know what they are doing?
..what youdescribe sounds like a aftermarket radio-improperly wired(there are reasons there are + and - marked on the speakers)
..when you turm it up,sounds like a circut breaker for the internal amp is shuting down the amplifier..when it cools back down(a few seconds),the automatic breaker resets..
..try looking at you're speakers, making shure the plus and minus match the color code on the radio..usually there is a sticker on the back of the radio..
plus to plus-minus to minus.
if you have a seprate amp for one of those bone rattlers,it may be overheating..make shure there is some air around it.mebee a little fan..
good luck!

I would guess the sound is vibrating a connection or the volume control and causing an open circuit.

Have you replaced speakers? If your new speakers were not properly secured they could be touching the door metal and shorting out the whole system. who installed the radio? was it properly installed and all ends insulated?
