I'm going to purchase something like a Zuma 13' sailboat and want to learn how to really sail it. However all the lessons out here (long beach, ca) are all 'certification' courses and cost 500 - 700 dollars and you pretty much have to join their 'yacht' club... It seems like a little bit of overkill. Where can I learn to simply sail a dinghy in my bay without learning how to sail a 25' keel boat and learn navigation etc.. it seems like that should come later as I grow learning how to sail?

Is there an online source to get me started so I can just jump in and cruise around and experiment? I'm already reading a decent book.. What are the real advantages of spending that kind of money on a school at this stage?

My sisters 1997 Taurus LX has been stalling quite a bit lately. When she brought it into the mechanic he said it was a clogged fuel filter...Two different mechanics have diagnosed this as the problem...but I don't think it's normal to have the fuel filter replaced 4 times over the past 5 years. She doesn't put an excessive amount of miles on her car and she buys the same gas as I did when I had my Taurus and I had no problems. Is it possible that there could be something else wrong with the fuel system that could be causing this problem?
She has used fuel injector cleaner and the problem still persists. Any help or advice you can offer would be really appreciated, thank You!

I'm currently stuck without a/c in my car, and all I really need to know, is where do I put the nozzle for the recharge kit. I can only find one tube, where it looks like the nozzle will fit, but there's no writing discerning if thats the correct tube or not. It's the tube directly to the right of the fusebox, which is located behind the battery, over on the passenger side of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My truck intermittently wouldn't start and I was told I needed to tighten the wires on my starter. I had that done and it ran for 5 days then completely stopped. Now I was told I need to replace those wires but when I called the auto parts stores some said it was the starter cable and others the positive battery terminal cable. What's the difference between the two and is there some way I can find out for sure which I need to replace. Thanks!

Nitrogen is the NEW substance used in tires. Helps stop rust build up and leaks out slower. Has anyone used helium? If so, how much weight could be "Saved" if used on a semi?

What was it?

I have removed the coil from my car and want to test it. It is a Lucas DLB 101 12 volt coil from a Jaguar 4.2 E Type. When I touch the red meter wire to + and the black to - I get a reading of 0.9 ohms. When I touch the red meter wire to + and the black meter wire to the coil output I get 5 ohms. Do these readings look correct. I have been reading up about this and I am not sure. Many thanks, John

I was in a car accident last night. I was coming around a steep curve at a very low speed and I glanced back into my rearview mirror because I thought that I seen something moving in my back seat....I was the only one in the car...but I glanced back only a split second and the next thing that I knew...I was trying to pull my car out of the ditch and I over correct and about hit the guard rail on the other side and I over correct again. my car fish tailed and hit the bank; rolled over and I was inside the car upside down but I managed to get out with no marks on me. I called my parents and the only thing that they could think about was the car and if it was salvagable or not? Keeping this in mind...what would you do?

There is no oil burning or leaking from my truck. The oil gauges say that everything is normal. One problem, THERE IS NO OIL! Even after I have the oil changed, a few days later it's knocking and completely dry. I park in a garage so I would notice if there is a leak. When I crank it up there is no smoke? Any suggestions?

I just bought a used car and noticed that the car's brakes are slow to respond. I took it to a mechanic and they said I needed new front brake pads and resurfacing, which the dealer covered.

But the brakes are still slow to respond after the work. The pedal is stiff and I can press the brake all the way down and not have it stop completely...it will still gradually come to a stop. How do I increase the braking speed?

& what's the worst that can happen to your car for doing that? I usually let the air run for a good 15 minutes if it's burning hot for 15 minutes. In New Orleans, the heat is so hot you can't even touch the steering wheel. & one time I did that, & my former foster brother-in-law told me I'd run my battery down. But can't the battery get recharged? & also, how much would a new battery cost for a new car? My car was sort of new @ that time, but I don't have a car now because it got repossessed. I was just wondering if what he said was true because I asked someone else, & the other person said he was lying. I want to know so that in the future if I get another car, I'll know what I should do.

I need some serious help because I dont know the first thing about cars.

So the van is leaking water. I parked the van today 5 different times and each time there was a very small puddle of water. The fluid is water. I want to know if there is anything I can do in order to not take it to the machanic? Also, under which cap does the water go in, what does the top of the cap say? Also I have not used the A/C in about a month or 2.

40 & 50 miles per hour on the motorways. These people should be treated in the same way as the speed freaks with points and fines. They shouldn't have a license if they are 'scared' to drive at the set speed limits. In my opinion these people cause more accidents as others want to over take and get well away from them!
