There is no oil burning or leaking from my truck. The oil gauges say that everything is normal. One problem, THERE IS NO OIL! Even after I have the oil changed, a few days later it's knocking and completely dry. I park in a garage so I would notice if there is a leak. When I crank it up there is no smoke? Any suggestions?

Hmm it has to be leaking somewhere! i suggest you put some more oil it let it idle stationary put down some newspaper under the car so it doesn't ruin the garage floor or where ever u park it and see if there is any dribbles of oil in a certain area then search from there as oil can cost a fortune ! hope u get it fixed!

i had a problem with my car a while ago i got my uncle to change the oil and we put a new seal around the sump plug needed to be tighten more lol as i lost oil when i went off driving with friends for the day :o

Oil Pan Gasket, oil filter blowing oil on the road under pressure, oil Gauge/Light Broken or stuck, Head Gasket,..... or a combination of the above. Need to fix it before you lose the engine if the damage so far isn't too bad!

Check the radiator for oil in the water. You may have a blown head gasket leaking to the water jacket that surrounds each cylinder in the engine block. The oil could be going into your water system. The water/fluid will have a brown and possibly foamy appearance.

First of all, it sounds like you need to do an engine swap. Your engine is probably dead or about there. Fill it with the 4 1/2 quarts of oil it takes, then run it for a while to see if you can find the leak that way. Don't drive it, just check to see if you can find out where the oil is coming from.

you put in oil, and it dissapears a few days later. Iol pan gasket is shot, crank seals are shot. oil drain plug is loose. Even a small rust hole in the oil pan, leaking slowly.

Get a steam genney, steam clean the entire engine. do a good job. fil the engine full ofoil to the full mark. slide card board under the front end.

start and idle the engine, untill it shows normal operating temprature. with a clean engine, you will see the leak, ware ever it is. Is the inside of your tail pipe oiley??

The converter gets hot enough inside, to burn off any thing coming through it from the engines exhaust

I agree with the 1rst answer. Your cooling system is probably majorly overfull. You have a bad problem with a head gasket pushing the oil into the cooling system.

If you've been running it out of oil, it's toast.
