Hey guys
i took my camaro today to the dealer and he told me that The Rear Diff is Leaking which needs a replacament of Pinion Seal and The transmission has a leaking selector shaft seal which needs a replacament of Shaft Seal.and he told me that both of these will cost around $475(including labour)
i don't know too much about cars and i m not sure how it can affect the running of my car,do i need to get these things fixed urgently or i can wait for couple of months?
also i dont see any leakage under my car .
could you guys please shed some light on it
Thanx

those problems aren't vital to fixing right away, you can wait awhile to do it but keep an eye on your transmission level every couple of weeks and add if necessary, the price to repair sounds a little high to me, I would call around and get a few estimates from independent mechanics.

i am not sure about the price although it does not sound excessively high. i would get it fix as soon as possible as if all the fluid in the rear end leaks out it can damage the gears and then you will be looking at a whole lot more money or the cost may be so high that it may not be worth fixing at all. i do suggest though that you get several more estimates from other auto repair places besides the dealer

Both shop up upon inspection of the underbelly. Not critical right now but keep them in mind for upcomming maintainance. They could tell from underneath by a buildup of lubricants and fluid.

Those seal should run about $100 apiece parts and labor.
