40 & 50 miles per hour on the motorways. These people should be treated in the same way as the speed freaks with points and fines. They shouldn't have a license if they are 'scared' to drive at the set speed limits. In my opinion these people cause more accidents as others want to over take and get well away from them!

Not meaning to offend anyone but cap-de can you campaign for the wheelchair bound motorcyclists that get hit by 70 year olds doing stupid moves who didnt even see the biker (who was travelling at 30 in a 30 zone). And i think a re-test every 5 years once you reach 55 should be made the law.

telboy, myhusband is an hgv driver and he is pushing 50 (well 40ish) so i'm hearing ya. I'm not saying all older people are bad drivers just slow to respond.. i actually think they should increase the driving age to 21 as i think the young drivers are the worst. I'm in for a bshing now! :)

I totally agree !!! Most of them tend to be the FLAT Caps - over 6O, can hardly see over the top of the steering wheel, only take the car out to one or twice a month if that.
They force people to get cross and overtake when its often dangerous, I know, and I can suffer with road rage along with the best when this happens....grrrr
Trouble is their reactions slow down and they tend to DRIVE as they would WALK, very slowly, probably cant see very well either!
I shall be honest now, I am also 6O+ and I do drive very well, and take a pride in this, and keep a tidy speed.
BUT... I think that we should take a driving test and eye test every 1O years from 5O upwards, that would probably take quite a few cars off the road! It would be nice to see some decent bus companies to take their place of course.
Thank you for a good question... I feel better for that rant!

Yes it can be dangerous but they are not actually breaking the law.
Worse are the ones who speed up when a lorry tries to overtake them, and then slow down again when it has to give up.
Then there are those drivers who come down a slip road going a little faster than the traffic they want to merge with, and are in front of a vehicle in the near side lane by a safe distance and they stand on the brakes instead of giving the accelerator that little extra squeeze.
Especially when it is 4:30am on a Sunday morning and they are driving a Ferrari

cant wait for a government to have the courage to make retesting of every driver at 10 year intervals ,then i would earn more money out of the failures ,i have to have a medical every 5 years to keep my licences hgv and psv and i am a driving instructor oh by the way i am 55 and an advanced driver so now what do you have to say ,the speed limit is not a target ,but i do know what you mean by the silly speeds some people drive at

The reason there are collisions (not accidents) on motorways is because of people being impatient and their inability to look around them and read the road ahead.
If it's coming up fast from behind or you consider it going too slow in front, It's a hazard to be dealt with. Its up to YOU to SEE it. It's called defensive driving.
Most people dont use their mirrors and dont look any further ahead than the end of the bonnet.
And of course, everybody is the best driver in the world.

OH come on you Nascar drivers, if theyre too slow, pass them. Its not their fault for not being as aggressive as you guys. Theyre driving in what they think is safest for them. Its the aggressive impatient ones who cause accidents. I dont like drivers who dont use their turn signals when changing lanes, because they swerve right in front of me very closely. Now those are the people who are dangerous. Theyre inconsiderate as well and it shows me what big egos they have. I mean if they signal, I'll let them in. The road doesnt belong to me. I doubt your drivers drive 40 miles unless theres traffic. The 30 mile limit on the exit curves are there for a reason, so the cars dont lose control. As for myself, I drive very close to 65 as I can. If youre always late to work, get out of the house earlier.

I'm campaigning for invalid wheel chair users to experience the thrill of seeing pile ups on the motor way as the people who drive @ 90 miles an hour suddenly realise how fast they were going @ the time of impact that caused so many deaths. u can quote statistics @ us all forever I'd still rater hit some thing @ 30mph than 70mph.

well there are people driving to slow sometimes but the number of people driving way to fast is far greater then the people driving to slow and when there are so many driving so fast it puts the people driving the speed limit in danger as well

Agreed!! people who go too slow are more likely to cause accidents than people who speed!!! through causing other drivers to get frustrated, and make silly moves to get around them. At least the people who are going at speed are away in the distance out of your way!!
