On Saturday, I just had all four tie rods replaced, the transmission fluid flushed, the coolant flushed, the oil changed, the AC charged, and the serpentine belt replaced. All in all, it cost over $700, but now the major problem is that the car doesn't start sometimes. I try to start it and it just makes a single click noise. I wiggle the shifter (automatic) a little a couple of times and eventually it starts. However, it doesn't do this every time I try to start the car. It is hit or miss, sometimes even going days without any starting issues. Starter? Neutral Start Switch? Circuit Board? Any ideas as to what the problem really is before I spend a ton of money that may or may not fix the problem??

I recently bought a battery thinking it was dead. I installed it and immediately I noticed the high / low battery needle on the dashboard was pointing more toward the low than high. Isn't it supposed to be in the middle? This new battery lasted two days before going dead. About eight starts. The little battery light near the speedometer is not coming on. This indicates the charging system is not good. So I guess my alternator is working. My battery cables are in poor shape. They are very worn at the connections to the battery and I am using vise grips with shims aeound the posts to keep them on. Could these bad cables be preventing my battery from getting a good charge as I drive?

while removing the harmonic balancer a piece of the removal tool broke off inside of the crank. It broke off in the hole where the crank bolt go, it broke off enough to where you can get a pair of needle nose pliers on it, but it will not back out. Do you think I can drive this vehicle for a little while in this condition without the pully coming off, and if not how can I repair this problem. I was thinking of putting a torch on the crank and getting it hot enough to pull the piece out, would you recommend this.

I think that we are never going to use for our fuel anything but gasoline. Don't get me wrong I think some people might have something elese but the vast majority of people in the U.S will always use gasoline. They had steam engines for trains 100 years ago and they are trying to tell us that they need to find another way for fuel. That is ridculous. We have had the tecnology for years for other things just won't do it. I drive a forklift at work that runs on propane. Also we have a electric forklift. Why not a car then because there is too much money to lose get real it is never going to happen.

I was involved in a car accident in April. No cars were coming at the time I was making a left turn. The only vehicle was a bus and it was stopped in the right lane to load and unload passengers. The left lane was completely clear. When I was in the process of turning, a car came out of nowhere and crashed into me. Of course, because I was making the left, I got the citation. I believe she was speeding trying to get around the bus. This is my first accident (which technically isn't my fault, but according to the law it is). I don't know what to expect when I go to court in a couple of weeks. I don't know exactly what to plea. I have taken a defensive driving course and am planning on presenting that to the judge. I don't want to plead not guilty, because I did make the left and the court will automatically find me a fault for that. I don't want to plead guilty because I don't believe it was my fault. I have to go to court because I am under 21 (I'm 20). Would nolo be good? Please help!

I got pulled over for the first time today (Fresno County, Cali).
I was clocked at 74 on a 65mph country freeway, which I could hardly believe I got a ticket for in the first place. I'm a good driver and I have no previous violations.

I know I shouldn't have been speeding at all, but how much can I expect to pay for 9 mph over (clear weather, no traffic)?
Can I take traffic school to clear my record?

I don't know much about this stuff (I'm only 18); I tried looking it up, but the penal code was difficult to understand. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

I have a 4x4 pick up truck and it is a 1993 model and I use it for my landscaping service. It has been slowly developing a kind of "clanking" sound which has become much more noticeable , especially when I am hauling something heavy in the back.

and I also have noticed the stick shift is very hard to put into gear, in the morning when I first head out in the morning. This morning it was nearly impossible to put in gear, so i decided to skip the day and head to a mechanics shop at a Toyota dealer. Well, they looked at the bottom of truck after putting it up on stilts and said that the rear drive shaft ( $1000)needed to be replaced, as it was about to fall out. and they told me that it needed a new clutch. ($750).

I might not argue with the rear crankshaft needing replaced, but I can get one used for 1/3 the price.

The clutch pedal feels just fine in my truck. Does not feel strange when I press it and there is not a smell from the clutch. Could it be something else?

I'm still having trouble with starting my car. I've tested the starter, the wires going to and from the starter and they all work. If I move the gear shift just a little, the car will start. I don't know if the shifter is not locking fully in park or what. It's an automatic. I've had answers telling me it's the ignition switch, but I'm not sure where that's at and how quickly it can be replaced. Thanks in advance for any help given.
