Every time I have something go wrong with a car, any of the cars I've had, I go to the part store and get to listen to how any other model of car would have the part for so much cheaper but mine is "special" model so it requires a more expensive part....What kind of vehicle would I have to have to always be able to go to parts store and get what I need for a reasonable price and not have to listen to the same bull about needing a "special" part?

For example, I had a '94 Chevy Blazer - 4 x4 , 4 door. They said because it was a four door instead of a 2 door that it required "special" parts that were more expensive...

I had to borrow this nissan maxima from my stepdad until i got my car back from the dealer, and that day the car was working fine. This morning i tried turning it on and it wouldnt start. The radio turned on so the battery was ok. The oil level was ok too, and there was no clicking noise so i dont think it was the starter. I checked the coolant and it was all empty. Do you think that if i put coolant in that would turn the car on or could there be more problems than just that?

Why can't i put some other liquid into it like water or cheap cider to make it work? Someone must be able to figure out a way to make other liquid power a car.
Any ideas??

Hello gurus,

My car runs fine but last night the MIL turned on. My mechanic is busy for a few days and i am anxious to find out what it is. I checked the obvious and these are what i find -

1) gas cap is tightly shut
2) checked the exhaust - its clear
3) there is no loss of power at any speed
4) there is no ticking / knocking sound from the engine.
5) the radiator neck has a few drops of coolant around it - i donno if its a leak
6) the engine doesnt overheat (i.e. the temperature needle always stays at 50%)
7) i got an oil change 1 month ago.
8) the transmission is fine

If anyone could help me in guessing what it could be it ( or atleast tell me if it could be serious), it would be highly appreciated. I dont trust the other mechanics around my town and therefore hesitate to go to them.

thanks in advance!

Ford windstar, 1998, 3.8L, 67,000 miles with tuneup done, plugs and wires changed, runs fine

It started cutting out when I'd hit about 50 mph. I could go below that or above that and it was fine. Then last week it started acting like it was going to die just at an idle. Now the motor is shaking back and forth when I start it. If I give it gas it levels out until I let off. Any ideas?I just had the oil changed, transmission filter and fluid and the air filter, plugs and boots all changed.

I have a sub and an amp i want to be able to control the level of bass or the volumn of the sub. my amp doesnt have a jack (like a telephone jack) for on those those remote knobs. Do you think my best bet would be to get a knob that connect through the rca cables from the back of the radio to the amp?

I recently changed all the spark plugs and wires, rotor cap,and a new thing that needs the points set. Now the truck ran before i did all that, could it be that it doesnt run because the points are not set? I dont know that much about trucks so , what feeler gauge should i use or shall i say what points do i set them at?.......Now i do know the arm moves horizontal and you use an allen wrench to set it i think...PLEASE GIVE ANSWERS IN YOUR SIMPLEST EXPLANATION ON HOW TO DO THAT AND IF THAT IS THE REASON WHY IT DOESNT START UP ......it does turn over but it just wont catch spark

I observed a loaded train stop near a small town. It appeared the crew exited the cab and walked across the street to a mini-mart and bought snacks then started on their way. Is this normal? Perhaps one of the crew was sick and needed something? I just thought it was strange.

The buick's check engine light is on. It starts normally, then when i put it into drive it just stays there until push down on the gas pedal repeatedly, then it will finally push off gradually and then when it gets up to 20 mph or so it starts working again normally. I went to Midas and they, unsurprisingly referred me to a transmission place - $$$$$ - I was wondering if there are any alternatives before throwing in the towel.

The horn on my 18 year old Volvo just started beeping by it self. I just had the brakes fixed and don't want
to take it back to the shop as that was costly enough. Its a 240 wagon. Also had the back wiper fixed too as it had stopped working. Can I fix the horn myself with limited mechanical knowledge?

I changed my own oil this morning. When I went to the store the transmission started slipping and after a mile or two the exhaust started smoking bad. Then there was a hell of a noise and the motor stopped running. Now it wont turn over but the battery has all kinds of power. I have never changed oil before but yes I remembered to put the new oil in the dipstick with the red plastic cap. Help

I bought a car 3 weeks ago and put 2,000 down for the 12,000 dollar loan that I was "approved" for. I get a call yesterday from the dealer saying that there is a problem with the loan and I would have to return the car or get a cosigner for the loan. Not only that but I would lose the 2000 down payment because it would be considered a rental fee! I would expect this from a used car lot salesman but I got the car from a Regal dealership. What should I do? I know Florida is infamous for frauds and scams but is this even legal?
