Me and my mom had an account with US bank and I was a minor. My mom racked up 982 dollars in debt with them. For some reason they think I owe the money. I was a minor when this happened. they later turned it over to a creditor and they are pressing a lawsuit against me. I can't figure out how this switch could happen. My social security number doesn't even show that I have bad credit or anything. I am really confused.

I have a personal loan of $12,200 which i'm paying around $490 a amonth (this is a secure loan which they are using my car as collertal). The reason why i'm paying that much is because of my bad FICO credit score (612). Is there anyone out there that can give me advice on how to get another loan with lower rates with someone with bad credit. I cant seem to get out of this hole.

I was thinking of paying double my car payment per month so that I can pay it off earlier. Is it beneficial to do this, or should I just make the minimum monthly payments? Which is better for building my credit? Thanks!

I have been working on my credit and i can't seem to get the score to go up. I have 1 credit card which I pay on time every month, a car loan again on time every month and was only late 1 time like a year ago, student loans i pay every month. I can't seem to get the score up. Any ideas about possible home loan qualifications? I've heard that buying a home increases your credit score, and i think it will be better than renting, any suggestions?

Did it happend to you? I posted a question, that i needed money to get my bussines started etc, and i got many people who are offering me a loan. There even was one guy, who wanted to loan me money based on trust!!!! I mean, can that be real, or it's just a scam to get your personal info and bank account number.

I want to maximize my credit score. My credit is excellent now and I don't want to hurt my credit score by paying this 75% discounted rate if it will hurt my score. Do I just let the bill slide since it is 11 years old?

I added my boyfriend as a co-owner to my credit card to help his "not so great" credit. I make all the payments on time and there is never a balance left on the card. Is this really helping his score? If so can anyone give me a clue as to how much it helps him...Thank you.

There is a long story attached to this, but I will make it short.

Total amount owed on a defaulted loan is $34,000. The bank has offered to settle at 75% ($25,500) but "possibly more with supervisor's approval".

Of course, less would be better to work with. Do I offer $20,000? $15,000? I am not a good negotiator. This is also a bank loan, not a credit card.

Thanks.

Ok over two years ago, I fell for a magazine scam over the phone(well I had to answer the phone because they kept calling at 10pm even 1AM!!!!!!!) so I fell for it and well my debit card was hot carded so I cancelled it. Two years later I went to get another one at the bank I had my first debit card, and well the lady said that I can't get another debit card because of what I did and it'll have to be approved by the committee. I told her that alot of people fell for that magazine scam it wasn't just me. She also said that she recommends I don't purchase anything online.

The only store I purchase from is Amazon and it is a SAFE site! so if I purchase online will she take my debit card away?

I didn't know bankers punish people who fell for a scam. who also shops very intelligently online. EVen smart people fell for this scam!

I am thinking about going through them for credit counseling and possibly even a debt management program to reduce my credit debt to manageable levels. I live in Albuquerque, but they have a bunch of offices in Arizona and New MExico. Does anyone have any experience with them? If so, how did it affect your credit, and how did it all work out for you?

By the way, I found them at the nfcc.org member location website, so I am pretty sre that they are legit.

Thanks.

I have 8000 in collections and have avoided the collectors for almost a year. My dad told me to hold off until december and try to make a deal with them bc he said they give better deals at the end of the year. (They wont even send me a written balance statement, let alone settle for less than paid- currently) I was planning on entering a governmental consumer credit counseling program. My dad said not to. What should I do?

Has anyone heard of Safeguardmycredit.com?

I had never heard of them until their charges began to show up on my phone bill (land line). I know I'd never sign up for anything online so I know it wasn't me, but they refuse to reverse charges. Who can I contact to fight this charge?

Im working on paying off my credit card debt... and i just transferred my balance from a high interest card to one that was interest free for a year...

but this got me thinking...

Why wouldnt i just transfer my balance every year to a new car that had zero percent interest? Doesnt that make sense?

Or am i missing something here like it affects your credit score or something? Thanks!

I've seen a few suggestions on the board, and put a few up myself as answering another person's question, but out of all the techniques out there, what are the 5 or 6 you find most effective?

I am a co-signer on a bank loan and the original borrower cannot pay the $34,000 that is due - not now, nor ever. Now since the loan is in default/collections, it is due immedietly.

I had no idea he was not willing to pay, but the trouble now is they want all the money now, or $1,400 a month for 2 years. The most I can afford to give is $800 a month (50% of my salary) but it seems the bank is unwilling to negotiate anything less, before they take "other actions".

Any ideas? I also own no property, or have any other collateral to my name. I am willing to work with them, but I don't make enough to pay them all back at once.
