I have five credit cards...just closed one today making it four. Is it bad that I just closed one? I never use it because it has interest. How many cards should I have? My FICO is 676. My first credit card was a little over a year. I am really young (20) and that is why I havent really have a credit history.

I recently did a credit report on myself and found several credit cards on there that I had no idea about. At first I assumed my identity had been stolen but then I discovered who had used my credit.

While I was in college, my mom used my social security to get several credit cards using my credit. She was having financial difficulty at the time and used the cards to pay for bills and other expenses.

The limits on those cards were in the thousands and she has maxed them all out. She is unable to pay their balances in full but she has been making the monthly payments on them. She claims they are building my credit but I did not give her permission to do that. She did not inform me that she was using my credit.

What options are available to me in order to get these cards off my credit? I don't think her credit is good enough to take on these cards.

I bought a car from Car-Mart and I'm close to having it paid off now. Car-Mart doesn't report to any credit agencies but I have very little credit history (which is why I had to go to them in first place) and I would like to see this reflected on my credit report.

I've heard rumors that you can contact the credit bureau and ask for a form to have your creditor fill out that can then be reported back to the bureau. Is this true? If so, which of the three credit bureaus would I need to contact?

In November of 2005 (right after my husband and I deployed to Germany) a collection agency started reporting a charge-off to Experian. In March of 2006 I paid the collection agency in full and it still says charge-off. Is it possible that they could post this as a charge-off? What is the time frame that it must be in collections before it becomes a charge-off? Is there any way to get around this? Especially since technically my husband and I are deployed? Please help someone!! I don't want to have to live the next 7 years with bad credit!!

I have an account with MCM for $1550. Now they told me I can settle with them for $930 all at once or I can pay the $930 within 3 months. Now, I am thinking like this if I settle for the $930 then I will be saving around $600. As of right now, things will be really tight if I try and settle for that $930. I was just thinking about waiting to pay it off. But I wouldnt wanna have that sit in the back of my mind if they take legal action or something like that.

Please only positive comments and concerns only. I dont need to hear any negative advice.

Thanks for taking the time out to read my question.

I'm looking for a loan of about $800 ASAP. I could pay it in full when I get paid in 12 days. I'm looking for a place online or in the Salt Lake area.

I know payday loans are a rip off, but getting evicted would cost me even more.

I have no reason to think that there would be a problem with my credit report, but I would like to check it because I have NEVER done so! Can anyone recommend a good way to do it?

two years ago my credit score was 460 now its 630. ive been paying back old debt and credit cards for this time. now all that i have left on my credit report to pay off is 1000 in bills that were sent to collections. all the cc's have been paid off. zero balance as of right now. once that 1000$ is paid. will my credit score go up again...what makes it rise more. paying off credit cards or collection accounts. i wanna find out if my score will go up substantially after i pay this.!!! i know i gotta pay all bills on time and everything. if anyone has any experience in paying off old debt how soon did you notice a change in credit score....also the only cc i have is only in my husbands name. i wanna get one in my name to build my credit back up...is my credit score good enough to obtain a credit card that doesnt have a lot of fees.

I've been arguing with a friend recently on where you can pay with a Credit Card and Cash together in a major retail store like Target or Best Buy.

i.e. Product price is $80. You use $60 from your credit card and you use $20 that you have in your pocket.

I don't think it's possible in a retail store but my friend says otherwise..

what do you guys think?

I'm a new amazon user. 2 Weeks ago, I sold some textbook and made some money off of it. Today, I checked my amazon account and it said my balance was $0.00. What does this mean? Does that mean the money was already sent to my bank account?

When I checked my balance on my bank account, my balance was still the same. Did I get scammed or does it take time for the money to get transferred? Thanks!

I was sent to collections for becoming delinquent with my credit card payments.

I was irresponsible...I understand that.

I've called the collection agency and arrangment payments for three months.

Why do I keep reading that if you pay these "derogatory items" then your credit score will go DOWN but, if you do not pay your credit will stay as is and only improve with time?

I don't understand-is this true? What would be the incentive for anyone to pay off their debt (besides moral) I think it's ridiculos, that I've realized that I've made a mistake and have done everything to make it right yet-I'm worse off by doing so.

Please explain.

I'm trying to get some negative stuff off my credit. I've been told by credit repair people that even if you do a settlement it still doesnt help your credit so I might as well just dispute everything. What reason do I put down? Does it matter?
