I bought a car from Car-Mart and I'm close to having it paid off now. Car-Mart doesn't report to any credit agencies but I have very little credit history (which is why I had to go to them in first place) and I would like to see this reflected on my credit report.

I've heard rumors that you can contact the credit bureau and ask for a form to have your creditor fill out that can then be reported back to the bureau. Is this true? If so, which of the three credit bureaus would I need to contact?

Auto finance is what I do for a living and you need to contact all three bureaus and ask them for the forms.

Now, even if you get this account added, the only things that will show are the opening date, closing date and the amount borrowed. No payment history, so it really will not help you much.

You can ask the credit bureau to add the car loan to your report. They will charge you a fee. It won't be updated but at least it will show.

It's up to the lender to report or not. No one HAS to subscribe
