Opening a bank account does not affect your credit.

possibly. see, when you open up bank accounts, they're not supposed to review your credit but a lot of them do.They normally just use telecheck. Telecheck is a system that banks share that show if you have a bank account that was overdrafted, etc. But a lot of time they actually check your credit report without your permission and by doing this, it appears on your credit report as an inquiry. Inquiries take points off of your credit score.
