I have a lot of old debt on my report. Plus a few things that were added about a year ago. A few things are going to fall off this summer. I went through 2 layoffs and a car repossession ( the car was a lemon that wouldnt even drive anymore). I have 2 civil judgements ( One is the car repo) reported as well. Anyone have any word of advice? Should I start paying off the newer debts or does it even matter at this point? Or should I send letters to the creditors asking them to remove negative remarks in exchange for a full payment? My score is very very low. Like under 400 low. I would like to be able to buy a house in 2 years and a new car sooner than that. Any advice would help

I have a long and good credit history, my bills have always been paid and on time. My question is...I was hospitalized, there were bills for lab work that my insurance wouldn't pay because they said I had to have all my blood work done at a certain lab. However the choice of lab I went to was out of my hands being that I was hospitalized at the time. The lab at the time offered me 1/2 of the price, but I never did pay it because I didn't think I should have to pay it since I had insurance that should have paid it 100%. It was the principle of the thing. So if this is on my credit file will it hurt my credit score? Any suggestion on if it could be removed from my report if it is on there?

For example, if you send the electric company half of what is owed, will they shut you off? Same question for cell phones, cable, car payment. I live in NJ. Are there any places(legititmate) that can assist me in making payments to these debtors and still keep my utilities on and keep my car(which I have no choice or I will owe more than the car is worth and I can't get refinancing) and my place to live? I am $600. short this month because of my husband losing his job and taking a pay cut from another job and second jobs at this time are impossible. Any help would be great.

From time to time, I hear commercials that contain the phrase "Not available in all states." One commercial that contains the phrase is a commercial about reducing or eliminating credit card debt. Do you have any idea why certain services are not available in all states?

I have 2 collection's on my credit report for medical bills.I have the cash ready to pay both off in FULL so NO payment plan will be needed (I know I could pay less but I want a GOOD chance to have this removed from my credit report) What are my chances of telling them I will pay in full under the condition that I want it removed from my credit report? Here's how "I" think I should go about calling them:

I'll call them and ask them if I have permission to record the call. Ask for their name (so its recorded for ref) Then tell them I am willing to pay in full under the conditions it's removed from my credit report. Then request it in writing if they accept, Pay them with a money order in a certified envelope.

Sound like a plan?

I was involved in a hit and run motorcycle accident, I was hit by another bike while riding mine. Now I have 2 collections medical bills that made it's way onto my credit report that I refused to pay but since nothing has been done I am stuck with the bill. Who do I pay the collection agency or the original creditor? I plan to pay the full amount so I have better chance of getting it removed from my credit report.

okay, so i just got a credit card, and i am a teenager in High school (grade 10). This is a normal credit card, mastercard. I was wondering when i use it (at restaurants, malls etc), do i just show them my school ID? i don't have a DMV ID (no drivers license). Will they accept my student ID as a form of verification? anybody with personal experience with this, your input would help!!!

Who are willing to lend to someone with poor credit so they may consolidate debt and get back on their feet?? Please be serious, as we are and do need the loan. Repayment will not be a problem. Just need someone to give us a chance.

I hit a rough patch back in December/January were I was a little behind in everything. I called and explained myself and everyone worked with me. Last month I made my last BIG house payment (normal payment plus extra payment tacked to spread out Dec's payment) I have caught up on everything or so I thought. Today I get a call from my car financier saying that I needed to pay x amount by Thursday to catch up and if I did they would allow me a two month extention and in July I would be returning to my normal car payment. Now she told me that she was fixing to put a repo claim in or something along those lines and would if I did not pony up. Either way I paid my amount talked to a really nice guy who assured me I was out of repo status and no my car would not be taken, I am just wondering now that I am back on my feet what are some budget tips, techniques you guys have. I don't want this to happen ever again. Any idea why the car company did this?

ok i have about 5 accounts open for collections they expire off my credit report in 2011 my credit score is 580! here is my question, i just got off the phone with one off the collections peeps and am about to settel 3 of my acounts and now i think mabye i shouldnt they told me that they cant take it off my credit report but they will mark it as paid so does that push the experation date back another 7 years on it? Should i settel this with them or just let it expire? does it help your credit score if it gets marked as paid or does it not change?
I know it is just right to pay it but if it will stay on there for another 7 years from the paid date whats the point?
and finaly would it hurt me to get a credit card off my gfs account andd would that help my credit?
or can you give me another good way to do this. also do cell phones help build credit?
