1. Contact all the 3 credit reporting companies.

Here's their contact information.

2. File a report with your local police. To find out if your state law accepts reports on identity theft, check your state Attorney General’s office at www.naag.org.

I hope you filed a police report. That is the one sure-fire way to prove that it happened. Here are the steps you should take hereafter:
1. Contact ALL THREE credit bureaus. Get in touch w/ the fraut units at each company and they will flag your account with a fraud alert. You can add a victim's statement if you'd like.
2. Contact your creditors ("new" accounts). If you know which accounts have fraudulent records attached to your name, call them and write them.
3. Contact your creditors ("old" accounts). For the accounts that are legitamitely yours, notify them as well that your identity was stolen.
4. Contact your bank or credit union. Let them know that your identity has been stolen. Request a fraud affidavit. See if you can get new cards, change your passwords, etc.

Here is a site that goes into great detail about other areas of misuse if you are a victim:

sorry...Y!A keeps cutting of the end of the site. After (17a), it's .htm

Contact all 3 credit bureaus and do so in writing, not by phone.

The number you need to call is 911. First...nobody is going to believe you unless you file a police report.

Second, all three.

You can dispute it and file fraud all you want...if you dont have a police report...its worth nothing.

Good luck
