If I ask for a increase on my limit for a store credit card(Best Buy), will that count as an inquiry since I already have an account with them? How long should you wait to ask for an increase? Do you tell them what you want to go up to or do they just bump the limit up a little bit? Thanks

This is in regard to transferring funds in an IRA account. I don't need a medallion stamp, just a regular signature guarantee but my bank doesn't have them and I need this done ASAP. Any ideas would be appreciated.

It will be 7 years old THIS DECEMBER, it's only 6 1/2 years right now. It's about $1,300 and when I called them to try and settle they said they could only go to about $750. Come on! It's 7 years old, they paid pennies for it. Should I offer them a couple hundred and say take it or leave it? Or should I just wait until this December and say "you get notta"! Need advice, thanks in advance! Btw, I need by debt clear within the next month (But I don't want them to know that) I want them to think I have a lifetime!

I am 19 and have an account on Experian that is not mine, I am currently disputing it however its charge off and has that score at like a 537. I have okay credit with transunion and equifax (690 and 671) and I have been told that creditors subscribe to a credit bureau and use it every time they receive an application to approve or deny. When I call and ask they say " we use all three" which is not true b/c when i get the denial letter it lists which credit bureau they checked.

I am NOT going to apply for too many cards and have heard the American Express ONE is pretty easy to get. I have added a security freeze to my experian file so if anyone tries to use that bureau, they will be rejected ( as they would deny me if they seen the charge off). I just want to know if there is anyway to find out which bureau a creditor uses BEFORE applying for their card?

I would like to find out how many points each debt on a credit report is worth. For instance, if I pay off my student loans, how many points will my credit score increase per loan? Does it increase over time or once you pay off each debt?

I just received a new copy of my credit report. I'm noticing "regular inquiries", "promotional inquiries", and "account review" inquiries being made to our credit. How can I get these to stop? Do I have a right to stop them?

Due to a temporary income problem, I can't pay all of my unsecured credit account minimums between now and end of June. Would I be better off paying the regualr minimums on some of them and nothing on the others, or pay all of them something less than the minimum? I will be able to pay the full minimums after end of June and catch up gradually. Any comments?

Well I am 17 ( turning 18 in July ) and I want to buy some things on ebay. If I create an account with a wrong birth date is there going to be a problem. Is the birth date on ebay just a formal rule the government came up with. The other possibility is if I register my mother with my debit card and my adress ( I live alone ) but when they send the thing will I be able to receive it?

A letter from a debt collection agency was sent to an address I havent lived at for 15 years saying i owe money, the people there I am related to but not got same name . Nothing has come to my address I have always been on voters roll etc. The only thing I can think of is about 11/12 years ago I had a joint bank acc etc with my ex. I had to leave him because he was violent, I was also suffering from depression and under the doctor on strong anti depressents. He used the credit cards and jacked his job in and carryed on using them ,when I left him i informed the bank of my new address, they gave him my address so he found me. Whenever I moved I informed them obviously I was in finanical strife at the time (I was left with nothing when I left him) The thing is I never heard from them again about 9/10 years ago they havent contacted me obviously have sold debt on but nothing has come to my address I have lived here for 9 years I pay all my bills not in any debt here. Any advice

Here’s my situation. I owe about $60,000 in unsecured credit card debt. I’m from New York. The last payments I made were in 2002. I was under the impression that after 7 years of your last payment, they will not be able to collect anymore. I am currently unemployed and have no real assets besides a car under my name. The first couple of years, collection agencies were calling all times of the day. Now there is just two that are calling, I owe one of them $30,000. This collection agency bought the debt off the original creditor. They recently won a judgment against me and has since frozen my bank account. I would like to know if it is legal for them to call my neighbors. They even sent an Information Subpoena to my landlord requesting him to fill in information about where I live, last verified employment, etc.

Hello everyone,
After trying everything I could think of to avoid filing bankrupty, the time has come where I no longer have a choice. After calling an attorney on this issue, I was told that in order to start the process he will need $500. Whew!!...Does this sound right?

limits are $300, $500, $750, $1,500, $1,750, $2,700, $6,000, $10,000 and $22,500..
We have Visas, Mastercards, American Express and two Store credit cards..
We are trying to pay them all off, and we are starting with the smallest ones and working our way up to paying off our bigger credit cards.. 12 cards is really too many for two people to have, don't y'all think?? None of the cards are defaulted or anything.. When we get some of those smaller cards paid off, do you think it'd be better for us to close some of those accounts down?? Or should we just pay them off and keep the accounts open?? We for sure want to keep our cards with the bigger limits.. What do y'all think??
Also, I'd appreciate any advice on how I can get our cards paid off FASTER!! We are trying to save up for a new car and a condo.. We are looking to buy within the next 2 to 3 years, so we do still have some time to work on improving our credit and paying off these cards.. Thanks a lot everyone!!

In an effort to improve my credit score I've collected all three of my free annual credit reports. It seems theres a few items that will be expiring due to the seven year statute of limitations. I know the creditor can file a civil suit to claim their money. My question really is this: If I respond to these debts, even to dispute them does the statute of limitations start over again? Would it be in my best interest to let the debts expire? Note this is in the United States.
