I have had a credit card for about 6 months, paid it off each month.

It depends on how much you need to borrow. If you're trying to qualify for a home mortgage, you might need 2 years. But, for something like an account at a department store, 6 months should be enough.

Be very careful about the use of your credit card. You would be wiser to dump debt and buy cash. Find a way to live beneath your means. Save money and make your next purchase with cash. The need to 'establish' credit is not that necessary.

you need to have at least thee lines of credit credit cards and keep paying on time in 1 or 2 years you'll be there 850 is the hig score low intress and any thing credit can buy........be carefull

6 months is 'green' in the system but paying it off all the time is an excellent start . . .
