I have saved all the money in a savings account to pay off my vehicle. The only thing is I am trying to find a home to purchase and I was told that if I pay off my car now it will make my credit score go down a little. I don't want that to happen but I am paying about $60.00 per month in interest. What should I do? Oh ya and I also was told to get a A paper loan that I need to lines of good credit. I have a Target card and I am on my dad's account with a major credit card,is this good enough? If not what can I do?

Was unemployed a few years back. Owe $6655 on an old Visa fromo BofA. Sold over two years ago. Bronson and Migliaccio from New Jersey has told me that they are going to serve me papers, and that they process has already started, filing fee and all on the 10th, so I should be getting papers in the next couple of weeks.

They have not tried to negotiate or anything and they will only take the full amount for a 3 year old bill. It is my belief that cc companies with two ways by a) selling the acct. and b) taking it as a tax loss. I lost with unemployment and 7 years bad credit.

I am a FT student with a FT job and have been responsible since my job loss. All this jargon is confusing me though. Can they garnish my wages without defending myself in court first? Has anyone ever been sued by a collection agency? What is it like? Do they let you defend yourself? What can I go in with to arm myself with? Any advice?

Last Sept. my husband and I purchased our first home. We were gifted equity of 20% (probably more) so not to have to pay mortgage insurance (the home had previously belonged to his grandmother who is now deceased).

The home needs some repairs. A new roof, siding and windows. We have the equity, and my husband's credit is pretty good. We've been making regular (on time) payments with this bank for both a vehicle and the mortgage.

Should we get:
--a home equity line of credit,
--a home equity loan,
or
--refinance the house?
and Why?

if we pick a day say july 1 2007 and quit paying on credit cards and collections it wouldnt take long to put them all out of buisness. they couldnt afford to sue everybody. theyd have to come up with a whole new credit system. and dont tell me it would destroy the economy. were throwing billions at iraq it doesnt seem to affect much. lets all get together and shut em down. whoes with me?

Here is my situation. I have about 15K worth of credit card debt. I've got all of this on 0% apr cards for the next year (while I pay it off). I have about 12K coming my way from my car which I'm going to sell. I'm planning on buying a new car. Would it be better to use the 12K as a down payment on the new car, or buy the new car with little to no down and pay off the credit cards? I'm wondering this from a credit perspective, not from a saving money persepective. Thanks!

I bought a used car from a dealership about 8 weeks ago. After having it 4 and a half weeks the timing chain broke blowing the engine. I have a 24 month 24000 mile warranty, which wont cover it because after market headers where put on the car before i bought it and they cant prove i didnt do it. So the dealership is avoiding me and my phone calls The car has been in the shop for almost a month and I'm stuck. What the hell do I do?

Uggg! My bank is so irritating! Whenever I overdraw the account they hit me with a $29 fee. It is insane! I understand that overdrawing the account was my fault but $29??? I could over draw it by $0.50 and they still make $29 off of that. How is that ok? And this last time was a nightmare. I took an extra day before depositing my check and EVERYTHING that went through got hit with a $29 fee. Shouldn't it just be one fee? When you are negative you are negative. I can understand the $5 a day thing but is it necessary for them to rape me on each thing? And whats worse is I went to the bank and I told them to NEVER overdraw my account. Meaning, if the funds are not in there, then deny the check or deny the debit card while I am trying to use it. Guess what? Nope. They can't do that. I don't think this is legal. Whatever happened to credit cards being denied??

I am a few days away to have a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney to file for bankruptcy due to bills that I incurred while being sick and being unable to pay off. I tried working with the direct agencies to pay the balance down slowly but they refuse to work with me, thus my reason for filing for bankruptcy. Now it looks like a collection agency has started to "contact me". I checked my home phone where I live with family and there was a message from someone who didnt identify there were attempting to collecting a debt and they didn't leave the message for me, they left it for the entire family ("This message is for the XXX Family") I traced the number back to a collection agency. I thought it was illegal not to identify you were collecting a debt etc. but over the past two days I've had two requests for my credit report by the collection agency. Is that illegal? Is there a limited number of requests an agency can have? 2 requests in 2 days is excessive and hurts my credit score

I was added as an authorized user on my ex husband's American Express account and a Citibank account. We later divorced and had an agreement that we both shall be held responsible for each of our cards. I never used any of his cards and the he informed me that the accounts were closed, but when I check my credit report (it shows that the Amex account was closed and Citibank says current) But the Amex amount was still showing up in my balance, which is killing my credit score. What do I need to do to ensure that these accounts are actually closed and that I am not responsible for the charges made to these cards? Do I have to call the credit card company and ask to close the accounts? or call the credit agencies and dispute it? Or do both or none? Should I include the divorce settlement in each of these? I want to be assured that I will not be bothered anytime in the future, because he did not end up paying up for his expenses. Can someone please suggest a plan of action?

I have received a letter from a law firm stating that they represent a creditor from whom I had a line of credit and I unfortunately stopped paying. This law firm has already contacted my job asking for verification of employment. I requested debt verification and they then sent me copies of old billing statements. Is this enough for them to pursue legal action?

I am looking to boost my credit score. I am 22 with an AMEX Blue card with 0% through October. I have an open credit line of $9200 with $3200 used up. Should I keep my schedule of paying $150 a week or pay it off in full. What will benefit me more? The only reason I am looking to boost my score of 715 is in preparation of buying a house next summer. I will be a first time home buyer and I do not want to get hassled around with all the subprime lending fall out.
