I have about $11,000 in credit card debt I've been avoiding. I need some sort of consolidation. What are the pros and cons for Chapter 13 and a debt consolidation company? Any personal experiences?

I have excellent payment histories on my rent, my car (a lease), and am generally good with my finances. I don't carry any debt outside of my reasonable student loan. I only have one credit card and I only use it for small purchases that I pay off in full usually on time. My question is, a couple of times I have been a few days late making my credit card payment, although I either pay in full or at least half of the balance, depending on how much is owed. Do these infrequent late payments (a week at most) affect my credit score and how much?

Is the Statute of Limitations on credit card debt, determined by the state you currently live in or where the debt originated?

I have a debt that I stopped paying on in Jan 2002. I acquired the debt while living in Texas and stopped paying it while living in Texas. My husband is military so we have lived in Missouri for the past 4 years.

The SOL for TX is 4 years for open accounts (credit cards) and for MO it is 5 years. Either way, the SOL has run out on this debt, however I am still wondering which would apply to us since we are military? We claim TX as our home/residence.

Thanks!

Say a borrower sells their house and pays off the note before the trustee auction date. Will this situation impact the borrower's credit report less severely than a foreclosure that goes to auction?

They keep calling me about an account that's not mine. They say I'm a relative, but I'm not. They even asked for my SS#. I refused and asked why my ss# is necessary for someone elses account. The CSR hung the phone up on me. I immediately called back, and asked who the company was, and where they are located. I was going to check them out online to see if they are ligitamet. I'm just wondering if someone was trying to steal my identity.

I was hospitalized in July, 2000 with a stroke. I received one bill in 200 and called the hospital telling them I could not pay because I could no longer work and was on social security disability,. I never recived another bill after that.

Now, almost 7 years later, I received a notice from a collection agency in he amount of $8,5000. I don't have this kind of money and I'm barely getting by on my disability check.

What do I do? Serious answers only please.

This thing is ridiculous. I pay $375 a month for it, and $145 a month for the insurance i have had it. I want tomove out of my parents house but i can't do it with paying this much a month. Don't even mention refinancing cause taking 20 or 30 bucks a month of the payment isn't going to help. I simply don't want it anymore. What do i do?

We recently found out there was a judgement against us for a debt that we actually disputed and somehow they filed it is small claims, it was put before a judge who made a judgement against us for not responding, even though we were never aware that there was even a case brought against us.
