Once you applied for the card you became liable for any charges associated with them giving you the card.

Activation fees, membership fees etc. So the answer to your question is yes you have to pay.

There shouldn't be a charge on the card unless you transfered a balance. If that is the case then yes you will have to pay the minimum. if there is no charges on the card then just call the company and close the account.

Call the phone number on the back of the card and notify them they you do not the card and you want your account to be closed.

If the account has not been closed you will be assessed the fees.

Be sure to make it clear to them that you refuse to pay for the fees assessed from the time the account was opened till now and demand credit.

Be sure to ask the person who you are speaking to for a closing statment to be mailed to your house with a 0 balance and get his or her name.

Good Luck

I agree with Spifiman

By you not canceling the card they automatically assume the card is accepted, no matter if the card was activated or not. Which is legal.

If the card comes with fees and you failed to cancel, they do have a legal right to charge you.

Call them and cancel and try to get the fees reversed. Follow up your call with a cancellation letter.

Do you know what your charges are for? You should call your company & talk to them & cancel if you don't want it.
