Hello everyone,
After trying everything I could think of to avoid filing bankrupty, the time has come where I no longer have a choice. After calling an attorney on this issue, I was told that in order to start the process he will need $500. Whew!!...Does this sound right?

Currently, it’s going to cost you $299 to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy, but that does not include the fees you’ll incur receiving the required financial counseling. For chapter 13, you’ll spend $274.

In California, I was told by two different attorneys the cost is $1500. If someone can do it for $500, go for it. Great deal. But you state that $500 is to start the process so I imagine it will cost more. Just call and ask any bankruptcy attorney.
