I just got a new card from them on Monday, activated it and tried to use it the next afternoon to get stamps, but it was denied. I called them and they said my account had been scheduled to close, but I didn't do that. I think the guy from CapitalOne was mad at me for supposedly making him think I was interested in the offer he was telling me about, but I wasn't; and then we got disconnected. I think he did it.

Anyway, I re-opened it and thought everything was fine. I've tried for the past 3 days to purchase something online and it has continued to be denied.

Plus, it's impossible to get a HUMAN BEING on the line. It's all just automated. I had the call the New-Card Application line to get a person, and then he told me how to get a Rep. on the Customer Service line.

I just want to work on my credit and have a CC for business purchases! What the heck? ...

Has anyone heard of United Credit Association? They are a credit repair agency. I want to know if those agencies are legal and if they really can repair your credit. My realtor recommended it to me because they had a meeting with some realtors in Houston, TX and they guaranteed to fix your credit in 6 months.

These advertisers are just preying on the vulnerable, the loans they offer are probably about as genuine as DVDs from the 19th century.

A little less than a year ago, i stopped paying my credit card. I know, I'm a bad bad person but I was a stupid college student. The amount I had on the card was only 600 bucks. It eventually was turned into collections and now the collection agency is telling me i can pay around 300 and it be settled. They want my checking account info but im leary to give it to them without something in writing. They say they need me to pay by Saturday, or it will be going back to Capital One and will accrue tons of interest and fees. DO you think they are bluffing? I am positive they are affiliated with Capital One. Ihave done my research. I'm wondering if I should just let it go back to Capital One and try to work something out with them or trust them and make the settlement. Please help! Any advice would be appreciated :)

My sister and former BIL have been divorced for about 5 years. Just today, she received a call from a collection agency about a $1500 Discover Card charge-off from 1993. They had my former BIL listed as the "borrower" and her as the "co-borrower". She says that she doesn't remember them ever having a Discover card, and furthermore she has since remarried and has a non-published phone number, so she's wondering how they even got her number to call her. Is there a statute of limitations on a unpaid debt such as this? She and the former BIL lived in the same house, with the same telephone number from 1994 until 2002 or 2003 when they divorced, and he continues to live there right now. He only in the last year or so had the house phone disconnected, so the phone number was the same one they'd had since moving there 13 years ago, and that one WAS a published number. I told her I'd try to find out if there is a statute of limitations. Can anyone help??? Thanks!

Im in the process of trying to aquire several letters of credit. Two companys so far have told me they "dont do that". Is it true they do not HAVE to issue me a letter of credit?

It just doesnt make sense to me for someone not to. All it is is a peice of paper with my billing history on it and does not reflect on them in any way. Their name is simply at the top of the page.

My son needed a co signer to buy a car, so I went and put my name down for a loan. He is paying faithfully and it has not been problematic. We put about $3K down on the loan.
Now my daughter just got a job and needs a car. She has no money saved and we live in the middle of no where and she has to drive 23 miles to work every day. I cannot loan her my car and she doesnt have anyone to car pool with, so do I co sign another loan for a car payment or do we find another way to get her a car?
How can she get a car? I would like to help her get out of my house and get on her own. She will be working at Walmart.

Hi,

I have had established credit for a year now through my bank (Wells Fargo). They started my out with 6 months 0% APR, $1000 credit limit.

I spend between $400-$600 a month on the card, and pay off my entire balance weekly, since I recieve a weekly pay check. I don't just send the $15 monthly minimum, I pay off whatever I use for the week when I get paid.

I'm wondering why I haven't recieved a better offer or an increase in my credit limit?

Also,

I have recently recieved offfers from Capital One and Orchard Bank.

Capital One is offering, 6 months 0% APR, and 14.9% after that. Credit limit, $500-$3000

Orchard is offer 12 months 0% APR, and 12.9% after the intro APR. Credit limit of atleast $200.

Should I entertain any of these offers. Does the APR even matter if I'm just going to pay off what I use weekly?

I'm trying to build a strong FICO score, so I can purchase a house in the next 5-7 years, any advice you can give me?

I'm 23, if you're wondering.

Thanks for reading and any help you provide, appreciate it.

Will my bad credit affect his?So far we have kept everything separate so our credit is not combined and his being affected by mine.
He has a Target credit card and wants to add me so I will have my own but they want my social security number and will they run a credit check on me and then find out how bad mine is will it ruin his credit because of mine?
If we are connected it will hurt us financially as we do everything using his credit i.e rent, credit cards, finance furniture, cars etc.
I have bankruptcy on my credit from before I met him and I don't want it to ruin him as he had nothing to do with it.

For 30 days?Or 60?I haven't missed a payment in 20 years, but apparently many people do.Sixty days late, once, wouldn't hurt my credit, but 200 million late payments the same month may create havoc.

I haven't sent them any money, but recently they sent me something in the mail offering a payment plan starting next week to pay them back and it's a smaller amount than what I originally owed. The statute of limitations in California, as I understand it, is 4 years, and this is from 5 years ago. If it's going to be removed from my report in a year and a half anyway, is it better to pay the money or just leave it alone?... Thank you!

can i use her card?
she has no idea.
through looking at other questions i gathered it would either be considered as fraud, or if i signed my own name it's completely fine. i guess i could just wait for my mom to have a free schedule, but i'd really rather not wait that long for glasses.
