You can call the 3 credit bureaus and request a pin # that will further block any attempts of opening of credit cards, utility bills, phone bills etc.
The only way you can open anything that would require credit is with the pin # . It happened to my sister. Her identity was stolen and this is what she had to do, Good Luck!

You can place a "fraud alert" on your credit file at all 3 bureaus. This is what the "fraud alert" will do for you:

For a period of at least 90 days, creditors can not grant any new credit in your name unless they contact you first and get your permission to open the new account. When you place the "fraud alert", give the credit bureaus a phone number so the creditors can contact you. This way, you can prevent anyone from trying to obtain new credit in your name.

You can keep the alert active for up to 7 years and you can have the alert removed at any time.

Keep in mind that if you try to open legitimate credit accounts while the alert is active, it will be a little more time consuming, but I think it's worth it.

I hope this helps.

Call to credit bureaus: Experian, Trans Union, Epifax (http://www.requestcredit.com/Credit-Cards-and-Credit-Bureaus-1545368-page_18.php ), numbers you can find at their sites. Besides you chould regulsrly check your credit reports they may contain errors that can cost you much. All you need to do is contact all the three major credit bureaus and ask them to remove all the incorrect information (well, you'll have to prove that it is incorrect). However, the sooner you fix it the betetr because some of the information you have (a hard inquiry) might hurt your credit score.

Notify the three major credit bureaus that this has happened, and they can flag your records so that any lender requesting them will see this and take extra steps to be sure it's really you on the application.

Good luck.
