Hi. This is the first time I have received an employment check. The check has my married name on it, but my I.D. still has my maiden name. Could I still cash my check? Thanks!

It depends on several things, first how well your bank knows you, second if you have an alternate form of I.D. with your married name, and finally, if you can convince the teller that you are who you are. If you want a no lose situation however, take it to a bank that you have a savings or checking account with, then just have it deposited rather than cased.

You can still cash it. Try your local bank or a check cashing store. Most places can call and verify your employment or you could show a marriage license or social security card. My dad still sends me checks in my maiden name and I've had problems before cashing them.

You can deposit it to your checking or savings account and when it clears , you can make withdrawals or write checks against the balance .
They accept it as a deposit because if it turns out to be a stolen or other problem check , they will charge the funds against your account .

Never cash checks in any event , deposit them and even better , sign up for auto deposit with your human resources payroll department .
Paper checks are a hassle and becoming obsolete .
