Should the consumer be able to make an informed choice on which product to purchase? Yes? No?

Should the consumer be able to spend more money than they can afford - leading to a default on the purchase (check won't clear, credit card overextended, etc) Yes? No?

Should the consumer expect that the maker/seller of the product be held responsible if the product is later found to be unsafe (peanut butter and pet food comes to mind) Yes? No?
