I recently relocated to Little Rock from Houston, Texas and I'm finding it very difficult to find employment here. I am looking for something in Medical Billing and Coding/Insurance or a clerical position that entails data entry. I have already listed to TONS of employment agencies to no avail yet.

After the interview process is completed, does a prospective employer refer to the resume or does he base his hiring strictly on the interview?

So I met with HR today for the company that I've applied for. Went on several interviews, and they finally decide to extend an offer to me.

They didn't really give me much time to sit on it and think about it. I was suppose to accept the position at that very point of day. At the moment, it sounded like a good job but when I factor in the commute (SJ to San Francisco), and salary, it's not worth it.

Employment is contingent on background check and drug test (within 48 hours).

I'm reconsider and do not want this job. What should I do?

I submitted a resume to a customer service call center job. They liked my resume and offered me an over the phone interview. Since she liked my over the phone interview, I was asked to come in for an in person interview. I went to the interview and was told to complete another application. So I did everything that was asked and I thought everything went well during the interview and was told to here back in a couple of days. I never heard back, but I got an email saying that they thank me for submitting my online application but they have no opportunities that match my experience or qualifications.

My question is, if I didnt have the right qualifications to begin with, why did they take me through all of this. And what could I be doing wrong. My resume is good, I have lots of experience and good communication skills. Also I have been interviewing for government jobs as an office clerk and can't get hired with them either despite the fact that I used to work for the gov. as clerical

Hi I just wanted to know - I have just given my notice from my job and leave at the end of the month. I have only been with this company for 3months and have been off sick about 8 days (mostly due to a miscarriage and bad migraines).. I wanted to know if there is anything they can do about it? Would they ask me for money back from my salary?i got paid a couple days ago, so i am not worried about the money but can they go ahead and take money out of my account because i have taken too many days off work? If i take another one can they fire me before my 2 weeks notice is up and claim the money back they have paid me?

I'm 26, and my company recently moved into a new bldg that has some finishing work that still needs to be done, so there are a lot of painters, construction workers, etc around. There are a few that have been on my floor regularly, and I have been friendly to them by smiling and saying good morning, stuff like that. I have noticed when I walk by they speak in Spanish to each other and laugh and check me out. I know they are saying suggestive things. Anyway, today I was going to lunch and one of the workers said, "Are you going to help me work today?" I just smiled as I went to my car and he said, "YOu know I'll work you! I'll work you hard!" Then walked away laughing. I was disgusted. I don't want to get anyone fired, but should I bring this up? I feel like they'll tell me I'm asking for it since I often wear heels and things. But I have in no way flirted with them or anything.

so i'm going to college soon, and i want an apartment and such, which is about 2,000 for the location, i also need things like food and clothes and things. what would be a good job that i could easily get that would pay well. i've never had a job before, so i'm not exactly sure about everything yet.
so here are my biggest concerns:

-is $14/hr a lot to pay an 18 year old? (yes, i do know it depends on the job...that's my next question)
-what type of job would be good for a full time student to make 12-14/hr?

you should know:
-i'm up for anything
-i can do simple things like answering phones and such, i've got some experience.
-i'm a liscensed babysitter.
-i worked at my parents restaurant for 5 years, so i'm very skilled at waitressing
-i'm willing to do pretty much anything (i.e. hooters, strip club)
-i'm going to live alone

thank you in advance for all of your answers. i really appreciate it. i wish i hadn't made the mistake of waiting to figure this all out at 18.

I work in a furniture store, and recently have been given a few requirements which I feel are very unfair. Firstly, working stocktake approx. 7 hours overtime in two days, with NO overtime to be payable. Secondly, on Christmas eve, our store will be closed. We have been told by management that we are to take one of our RDO's, or take the day out of our annual leave entitlements, OR we will be given a days credit to owe them later. All this on a day when they have closed the store. We haven't been asked if this arrangement is suitable for us, nor have we signed an AWA. Can this can be enforced legally?

I haven't been able to find a job since graduation .I was looking for one in my place , but it was close to impossible to find one. But now ( i don't mind working at a place a little farther than from my town )

it's been a year since i graduated..

What should I say when I am asked this question at an interview ? Eventhough my major was electrical engineering
i worked first 6 months at a call center and gained valuable customer service experience.

But how would I explain the rest 6 months ? and what do i even tell them if they ask me " Why did you work in a call center in the first place ?" because this might not make any sense to them , right ? p.s : i wasn't able to find one job soon because of family problems , but I don't want my employer to think i come from a dysfunctional family . I hope you understand ..
How do I tackle this question intelligently ?

what do you think ?
Thanks.

So I'm 21 years old working for a company that I hate. I'm sleeping on my brothers couch with no rent bills and still wind up broke every month just from all the debt I've been able to build up in 3 years. I've tried to get a better job but unfortunately I have no college to back me up and I only have a GED. I would go to school but that costs way too much (kinda ironic how you need school to get a good job but you need a good job to go to school). So anyways... I'm not really expecting any answers on this one.. just thought I would get some stuff off my mind.

my manager is trying to give me a run around in this issue. the money that i as asked to pay is the amount that i paid for my H1 visa fee. this was supposed to be paid by the company but they asked me to pay myself after i joined the company. they should have let me know this before i joined the company and i was left with no choice at that point rather than paying from my pocket. they reimbursed the amount later but they gave it as a sign-on bonus and since i am leaving before the contract ended, they are asking to pay it back. i really dont want to pay. the amount, it is $3,600. But i am worried that if i leave without paying them, will my new employer know about this which might give them a very wrong impression on me. can my current employer contact my new employer? is this legal?

Yes, I love to travel. I actually romanticize the red-eye, spontaneously setting out for the airport at a moment's notice, have breakfast in London, Lunch in Milan and Dinner in the US.

Sure, I know it's not as rosy as I am describing it but you see thats how much passionately I love to travel.
I would hate to have a job that will confine me to walls of a cubicle all the time.

I am in US and studying for my Master's in Computer Science.
I have a passion for this field and I know I can do wonders in it.

I just wanted to know what fields in the general area of Computer Science will allow me lots of travel?

Please feel free to be specific...

Last year I applied for a job with the Library of Congress. I noticed there was an optional section where you could state whether you have a handicap or not. I noticed it when I had only ten minutes left to submit my application via the internet, so I called their office. The administrator said if I had a handicap, I should DEFINITELY mention it (assuming it wouldn't interfere with the work) since they want competent handicapped people. Then he asked if I had some 'official handicapped' form. I said I didn't, just a doctor's note. He said I needed a gov't approved form. Does anyone know what this form could be?

Some of them are in unions, I think. I've always thought it could be a good job. Kind of tedious. Yes, but most jobs are. Either that or way too stressful. Or both.
