Help! I have an interview today and I'm not sure how to respond to this question. Let me explain...I'm trying to get on a local college and I've been working at a healthcare company for the past two years. My previous job was at a small private college and it was horrible. I was only there for five months because of the working conditions. I love working in an college enviroment but how I can justify me leaving this previous position without bashing the company?

(Rephrasing because some didnt' understand)

After not having said anything negative to my boss in 3 years of working there, I said something. As a response, I got fired a week later. Their reason? "It's not working out."

I have never been written up. I have had stellar performance reviews the entire time. I have had 3 promotions -- more than anyone else in my department.

I was the only female manager. I have heard other managers get into it with him and they shake it off. He calls it courage when they do it. Once when I stoof up to another manager, he called it "bi tchy".

Is it alright that I got fired? Do I have a case? Can I sue?

...since healthy, attractive people are more pleasant to be around, and a pleasant work environment is a productive work environment ? Even if they individually may not be top performers, they contribuet to to making everyone else more productive. It just sounds like good, fair business practice.

I started as the receptionist at a Law firm in Cleveland, OH on August 29th of this year. It is a decent size firm-25 or so employees. After only a short time, the legal assistants started to give me a lot of their overflow work. I was catching on qucikly and doing things accurately and in a timley fashon. They loved me. I have since been promoted. They are going to train me to be a probate legal assistant. They started me out at 25k a year as the receptionist. When I accepted the promotion they told me I would be getting a raise, they said they didn't know how much yet though. The average salary for the position in the Cleveland area (between 0-2 years experience) is between 31k and 38k a year. In your opinion, what do you think i should expect to make?

candidate? i was told people with health issues have prob;em getting hired...Since my asthma is mild, and rarely, if ever, flares up (besides times of extreme physical activity), will i possibly be discriminated against? I'm in very good physical condition, besides the asthma.

Also, are sociology, psych, P+A, English, and a math all that are generally needed? Any help appreciated.

I just started a job in retail yesterday morning - as a freight worker. When I signed up for this job I did not know I would have to work at 6 in the morning (wake up at 4:30, leave at 5:10 - I live a ways away), not until they had written up a schedule. Not only are the hours bad, and it's only minimum wage, but the work itself explains why they need help . I've been making myself sick trying to adjust to this, I already knew I hated the job the first day, and knew I was going to quit very soon, but I want to quit tomorrow - which I am scheduled to work. Would it look bad if I didn't drag my butt up there at 5:45 in the morning just to say I quit and instead called to say Id like to resign?

I must add -- they didn't spend time ANY training me or anything! So it's not like I wasted anyone else's time but mine.

I'm only 17 and it is a part-time job at a non-profit, county-owned theater. I don't know how that effects the situation and the laws or entails but it has gotten rather annoying. My official payday is every other Wednesday but since we're always swimming in debt, they usually don't have the money to pay us (myself and the other ushers.) We are usually given excuses like "None of the board members were around to sign them (our checks)" or "The checks are going to be a little bit late." It doesn't sound legal but then again, I know nothing of how these types of laws work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok i work at a vehicle acessory shop. I install toolboxes, vent shades, bug visors, spray in bedliners, etc.. I make 9.50 an hour.. My last raise was at the begining of this year. About 3 months ago they decided to promote me to exhaust welder. But i still make the same as i did before. Is it right for someone to get promoted to doing more, not to mention harder work with out getting more pay? And also they have started getting me to do extra stuff, like clean their personal yard, washing their personal vehicles, painting fences, nothing that was explained in the job description. I enjoyed my job up until they went stupid on me.. Should i confront my bosses about a raise or quit and go find a better job.. Am i being too irrational.. tell me what you think i should do. thanks

If a person has been fired from at least 3 places of employment (for the same type of work), what are the chances of the next employer trusting that person again?.

Hi, I'm 16 and have my license. I'm wondering what the minimum age in Illinois is to be a car porter. And I'd also like to know how I would go about getting a job as a camp counselor at a younger kids camping facility. I live in hickory hills Illinois. I'd prefer a camp where I would go and stay for a week or two, unless there is a day only camp close to my house, which I don't think there is. I do have a job right now at a small hobby shop, so I have job experience and people experience. I'm also open to any other suggestions. No fast food or stupid jobs like that though. Please and thanks.

I got an interview coming up for a county government IT job (not contractor position) on the U.S. East coast. What kind of competition should I expect? Will they more than likely do two rounds of interviews? Any advice?

I'll begin by giving a little background on myself. I'm 18 and currently attending a community college with plans of transferring to UC Santa Barbara next year to work on a B.A. in Communications. I have a strong, deep, clear voice and have performed in my high school musicals/plays. I gained a lot of praise about my voice and that heeded me in the direction I'm headed now, which is communications.

However, I'm not sure where my best bets are. I've been told that with my voice I would do great on the radio, acting/TV, or singing. All of which I know are very competitive. I've also heard that the communication degree is one of the easiest to get. So, should I limit myself to just a communication degree? Or would it be wise to double major in Com and perhaps Drama so that I gain acting skills in case I do land a job on camera? Also, what other kinds of careers would be good for someone like me?

Someone told me that before I decide to move to another state I had best secure a job there before I move. Is this possible? Can you interview for a job before you meet the people you'll be working for in person? If so, are there any specific sites I can look at that list employers who do online interviews? Or do I have this scenario wrong and you cannot secure yourself a job in another state until you are actually there (because I'm not talking about just an application but a real interview)?

Sorry if this is loaded. Thank you!

I am 32 and in college to get a B.A. I have never really worked before because I mooched off my parents, but after I get my B.A. in about a year I'm going to need to work, so I was wondering how could I start working without having any work experience? Any help would be great, thanks.

How should I inquire about employment at a large company by doing a cold calling visit? (A physical visit) What should I say to the receptionist so that she would let me talk to a hiring manager? Or who should I ask for? I’m worried that they would simply tell me to go home and check the openings online. I heard that hiring managers a lot of times don’t look at resumes sent through online job portals, and the only way for hire is to have a contact in the company. I don’t know anyone, so the point of my cold visit to talk to people there. They would all be busy, so how can I get to talk to them? And what should I discuss with them? Job duties descriptions are sometimes abstract, without appearing incompetent, how do I ask about the exact functions? If I don’t know which position to apply for, how can I discuss my possibilities there? What time and day of wk would give me higher chance of success in doing the cold visit? I would like to apply for a salaried position in management. Thx.

Ok my husband worked for Co. that we had wondered whether it was concidered agricultral or not? He was never paid time and a 1/2 just straight time. He drove a tractor mowing and spraying chemicals on pine trees. Worked 8/2004-8/2007 he is no longer there but our son in law is and he just started getting time and a 1/2 on his OT. He said they found out they have to pay it now. Does this mean we may be able to collect our back OT pay? We have questioned them on this many times because some employees did and some didn't???? Doing same job. Figured it was worth checking into since it would have been 5.00$ hr for a avg of about 117 weeks.
