Well, I've recently left my job due to illness, but before then I was off sick for quite some time.

At first I had actual sick notes from my doctor, but after that I didn't. Now I know I got paid whilst I had the sick notes, but I think I have been paid after then too..
As I said, I've now left the job, but I'm worrying that they will ask for the money they paid me back as obviously I had to live off that during the time I was off (and now also), so I was wondering, do they have the right to ask for the money back or since they chose to pay me whilst I didn't have sick notes, do I reserve the right to keep it? (Even though it's already gone on food, rent, bills etc.)

Thanks to anyone who helps me, I'm getting sleepless nights with worrying about going into debt so any help is appreciated =)

I'm graduating with a B.S in May in a Graphic design related major. How will I find an entry level job when all of them want you to have like 3 years of experience at minimum? I can't get said experience if no one is willing to hire fresh out of school...I'm sure some of you out there have jumped over this hurdle?

Do any of you work at sports shops? If so, what did you wear to the interview and what shop was it?

I'm starting a new job in approximately three weeks however within the first week I start is my A Level certificate day which is quite a big thing to me as it's at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and it's almost like a graduation day with parents attending etc. I'd like to go but feel maybe it would sound awful if I requested time off in the first week of starting this job. Should I just keep my mouth shut and not go, or talk to them and see what they say? I don't want to appear undedicated but at the same time I'd like to go.

Thanks in advance for answers...

At a job interview, should you take off your outdoor coat or just unzip it? The kind of coat I'm talking about is something like a raincoat or duffel coat.

I am being offered a consulting job in Nigeria for about 12 working days; however this also would include spending two unpaid weekends there. I've worked for other companies and they would pay for a flight home every weekend. I would be ok with spending one weekend there, but two unpaid weekends seems like I'm being taken for granted. Any advice?

Ok, I work in a small Optometry business that only has 3 employees, the Optometrist/Owner, a Trainee and myself, and I'm only getting $29,000 Aus. dollars a year. Someone's suggested I apply for a job with a building company earning +$40,000 a year. I really would like to try to go for it, but I feel I am obligated to my current employer.

I feel he deserves more than a quick letter of resignation and 2 weeks notice, especially this time of year. Does anyone have any advice on some ways I could go about it?

First, I'm from California. I just started a job that's seasonal for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Just a normal call center job but I work about 11 hours a day. I know I get 3 hours of overtime each day, but after the 4th day, that totals to 44 hours of work already. That's 12 hours of overtime, but in California you receive overtime for every hour over 40 hours worked in a week. That's so far 32 hours of normal pay and 12 hours of overtime. BUT if I work anymore that week, is every hour over that considered overtime, or do I have to put in 8 hours more of regular pay hours to make 40 hours of regular pay hours? Also, when is double pay other than more than 12 hours a day? And, if I continued to work 11 hours for the rest of the week (thats 7 days x 11 hours), how much would my paycheck be if I make $10 an hour without tax taken off?

I am a single mom with a part time job at my daughters daycare. I work there so that I dont miss out on my daughter, get a discount on child care, and so that I can financially provide for our family.

I work 15-20 hours a week as a fill in (someone calls in sick- Im the back up)
Unfortunatly it's not paying all the bills. I need a job that I can work random days-no set schedule ( b/c I work different days every wk at my daughters daycare).

Any suggestions on EXTREAMLY flexible job?

daughter was fired 4 theft at clothing store. They told her she owes them $8,000 even though they don't know what exactly was taken. They told her she could bring back the merchandise & they would deduct it from her total, depending on its condition. Except everything she will be bringing back doesn't even come close to what they said she owes. What can I do about this? Anyone know? Other employees got caught to but they only were charged $1400, this just doesn't seem right to me. Please help me.....

I am having a job interview to get a promotion soon. I was told it would be mostly behavioral questions. I'm not sure what questions to expect. It's to go from the teller line to a loan officer position. Is there anything I should look out for or try to do? I get nervous in pressure situations and I really want this job. Is there anything I can do to prepare? Or anything I should have handy. I need to make this an excellent interview because I don't have the training and I need to impress them with my ability to answer questions better than the person who is already trained to do this job.

If they're still in training, they're not a regular employee yet, right? So then if they're let go, that doesn't equal getting fired, right?

Two months ago I was diagnosed with lyme disease. About a month after my diagnosis, I was too exhausted and in too much pain to work. I told my job that I needed to take some time off to rest and my doctor wrote them a letter. However, it's been three weeks now and I am still unable to go to work. Can someone explain to me how collecting unemployment or disability works? Or what I need to qualify? Or at least direct me to a website that could help? THANKS!

I work in a retail store. Someone filled an application for employment and turned it in. He was called for job interview and he did well on the interview. So he was told by the manager that he is hired and he should come on Orientation on November 1st, 2007.

He showed up at the orientation and looked very determined. Then he was told that he give a call tommorow to let him know what his training schedule is. He agreed.

But he never called or never showed up since. He just came on orientation and it was over after that. How come?

He does not even show up to pick up his $25 check for the 3 and a half hours he showed up for, on orientation.

What might have happened and why he never responded after the orientation?

At least he could have called to explain what is going on.

TGI Fridays was the worst spot I have ever worked in. Ive been there for a month and learned alot and did the best job I could. Ive served before in gourmet so I know what I was doing.

But since these "tween snotty obnoxious servers decided to tell my boss "oh I don't think hes learning it" My boss fires me and says I don't think you're coming along. How would you handle it? luckily I have another job and only did this part time but the other servers weren't very sociable at all to me. What is the best way to leave? Im not going to stand there like a donkey and say Oh thank you for the opportunity.
