More like what can the employees do to earn the respect of their employer? If you want respect you gotta give it first. Not just assume your going to get it (respect) from an employer because you have a job working for them. If you work hard and do your job you'll get said respect and have respect for your employer.

Like so many business questions, this has no easy answer. There is no magical quick fix (other than maybe saving the lives of all of them, and that would only work so long).

Some of the ways that work on many people are just being good in what you do. Be fair, honest, and upbeat. If people see that you're going to treat them the right way, that you're not going to lie to them, and that you are encouraging, they will be more prone to following you.

Have standards that people know. People hate to not know what is expected of them, they'll be waiting for something to go wrong. Also, make sure that your standards are flexible, don't sacrifice your relationship with your employees because you're too rigid.

Unfortunately, there are always people that can't be pleased, no matter what you do. If you find someone like this, they are a bad apple and will pull down the rest. Don't let someone like that influence your company, fire them. Its not pleasant, but its better than having that person pulling you down.

I think the most important thing is to make sure you know what you want. Do you value results or people more? What do you value most, money or reputation? There are lots of priorities you need to know. Find out what you really want and work for it, don't get pulled off of your goal.

Treat his employees equally. Don't do special favors for one (especially in front of the others) and not do anything for the rest. If they are all working the same and respectful to him it should be an equal environment. It causes problems with respecting the employer and with the receiver of extras.A guy in my office gets football tickets delivered from the president of the company and the girl next to him is a huge fan of that same team it really p***** her off when that happens.

Consistency- employees are not mind readers and we don't have crystal balls. If we did, we'd pick winning lotto numbers and would be happily drinking pina coladas by the pool, not dragging our overworked fannies to your office every day.
