Most retail (shops) have a real problem coping with Xmas .. they take on all sorts of Temp. staff .. go to where-ever you would like to work (eg Dixon's) and ask them ...
NB. None will pay too well, BUT the best rates will be for 'skilled' staff .. so if try to find something thats a 'match' your collage course .. eg. you doing Art & Design ? try a DIY shop !
