You certainly aren't going to find what you're looking for where you are now. You'll need to move to a larger city where there are more opportunities. If you move to a larger city, most likely you won't need a car to get around. You may use a bike or hitch rides with freinds. First thing is to get a job, but don't make the mistake of going to a big city with $5 in your pocket. That might have worked in the '30s but not today. Obviously you are internet savvy, so start looking for easy jobs to find in the nearest city, and see if you can land something before you go. That way you'll only have to support yourself for a couple weeks while you wait for your first paycheck.

if you are over 18 go to the nearest big city. Greyhound tickets are not very expensive. Get a cheap. find a waitress job and work as many shifts as they will give you. Take advantage of the free meal. Save as much as you are able. Take a short course such as typing or computer skills.
When you complete it find a 9 to 5 office job and work nights and weekends on the waitress job. Save all the waitress money. After you have $3,000.00 Quit the waitress job. Start a course that interests you such as CNA, or Bookkeeping. Upgrade your skills. See if you can move up where you are or find a better higher paying job.
After 3 months, find a better place to live. Take a short vacation and go see your Mother.
Start college at night school. complete the first 2 years. Apply for a grant and a loan. complete the last 2 years days . Have a part time job nights to support yourself. After graduation find a professional job. You have a few months to save money before the loan repayments begin. Make them on time. establish credit. Get a better apartment and some furniture. Save money. Start a retirement savings account. Get a CD. Make an investment in the money market. When you are earning a good salary and have been a year at the job give yourself a nice vacation. You will have worked very hard and deserve it. Look for a condo. Plan all the expenses. Buy one. Make it a nice home. Update your wardrobe.
Decide if you prefer to remain single or seek a partner. Decide if you want a child. finance the plans. If you need one get a car. they are a luxury in a town with good public transport. Gas is very expenive

You have tried to get jobs in your town - so there is a town. Towns have people. People have needs. What you should figure out is how you can meet those needs. In my own small town, it is nearly impossible to get someone to do small repair jobs, handyman stuff. I know one man who has a window-cleaning business, he does all the store windows. Another provides a lawn-cutting service, though that is only really busy in summer.
If you live in a country area, could you provide an extra pair of hands for a farmer who wants a day off, or is sick or just extra busy?
If you can't think of any way of being your own boss, could you get someone to take you on as an apprentice ? ... a plumber, or a builder, an electrician, or whatever else there is in your area.
Have you tried voluntary work to give you experience, and use that as a springboard into something else?
Or you could go back to school and go for the college degree ........

You're in luck, at least for the season, because retail will be looking for workers (at least temporarily) for the Christmas season.
As to that big city 2 hours away, try craigslist or monster.com to see if you can find a job there, or in a suburb near there. And don't be afraid to register with a temp agency, like Kelly.
If you can afford it, I would suggest buying the book "The Richest Man in Babylon" from half.com or eBay - whatever is cheap. Or, just look for it at your local library.
There's lots of jobs out there, really, for those who are willing to work hard.
Don't worry about the vehicle for now. You can take public transit or hitch hike until you get some cash saved up.
Good luck! You can do it.

Do you have any personal savings, enough to help you move to a city where there are more jobs? That is one idea. Or maybe you could travel to a nearby city (by bus or rail) and spend 4-5 weekdays there at a youth hostel while you look for work. Good luck to you. D

On-line college combined with basic entry-level job related to the degree you're getting? You can even mail order your books.
Examples: working in a day care if studying to be a teacher
working in a gas station if you are studying management
etc.
Do an internet search for colleges near you and see if any have fully on-line degrees.

Well, you can start by becoming self-employed.
Find a service which you offer that is needed.
You must have some marketable skills to offer.
The obvious simplest one is baby-sitting.
The next choice is to make something people need.
Can you knit or sew? Offer to do alterations
Make bread or cakes etc.? Do catering etc.
If none of these appeal, try volunteering your time.
That way you may pick up skills or get known.
Obviously, you know something about computers & internet.

US coast guard, they may get you in with lower standards than the military, go take the civil servants exam and try and get on with the post office. If you have no support from parents, you may have to take any job you can to save for a bus ticket. Go to school and learn some trade! Good luck

take some loans and go to school or move to the city and work. Better to be in debt with the potential to suceed...then to not be in debt, but have no potential at all
