I've noticed that some US companies have their offices scattered all around the world. When they want to fill out a position outside US do they give jobs to the people native to that country or is it possible that they will hire an american and let him relocate?

After nearly nine months my boss finally realized I was out of my contract. I didn't say anything because I had spent the time looking for a new job in a different career. As fortune would have it, I am set up for a final interview for a new job, but at the same time my boss and I have agreed on the details of a new contract. I expect the contract will be given to me about a week before the final interview. Should I try to stall signing for a week or two? Should I tell my boss the truth that I'm waiting to hear about another job? Or should I take the bird in the hand and forsake the two in the bush?

hi there,

I need someone to spend about 5-10 hours on the internet to compile some information for me but I don't know where to look for student who could do this job.

Do you have any recommended website/forum where I could post this message?

And what is the hourly rate for a student to do some market research on the web?

Are you putting applications in for government jobs with great benefits?
Are you submitting applications to companies which promote from within?
Are you looking for a job that you would actually enjoy?

I ask because at my job my boss will decided that she needs to promote someone to fill a job and she will ask them. Well I wanted to be promoted a few years ago and I asked her, (no one had ever done that before apparently.) When I asked she said yes and it was a good idea. After a year I asked for another promotion (no monetary raise just a different/better job) and again she said yes, good idea. Up to this point I have been doing good work and working hard. Well I was talking with one of my coworkers the other day about another type of promotion (she wants to learn how to do a better job) and I said she should ask our boss and the coworker flew off the handle saying how rude and disrespectful it was to ask like that (she knew I did that and was saying it to make me feel bad) she said that our boss chooses us and how could anyone ask such a thing. It made me feel like because I asked I didn't earn the promotion like the others. Was I wrong to ask? Did I earn it?

I'd like to become a server once I'm 18 (2 weeks), but almost every place I find requires at least 6 months of experience as a server. What are some restaurants that do NOT require that, that you guys know of? I'm already living on my own (w/ boyfriend) and Circuit City is not paying the bills!! I don't think I'd be able to become a hostess first and then wait to move up either... I really need to start making more than $500 a month. =]

Thank you!

We started this job 3 weeks ago, we are temps. I am stuck in a room w/ a girl who is 7 yrs. younger than me. I am trying to conduct business but she always has to blurt out by singing, whisteling, laughing, passing gas, making weird throat noises, calling her friends on the phone. She is driving me crazy but it is a good job & I don't want to complain to the boss. I don't want any friction between the 2 of us. She just is not fit for the job mentally, but can do the work. How would you handle her weirdness? Oh, & she also is always dancing in her chair, making goofy arm movements. We work for the LAW somewhat. We are in our own room so no-one can see us unless the boss comes in but the girls outside of our office can hear her. I have not mentioned anything to them.

I have tried ignoring them, but it still bothers me. B/c they dont get it. I go to school full time, otherwise I would be looking for a new job. How to cope?

ppl here gossip too much, instead of concentrating on their client, they're more interested on your personal life. who slept with who, who's dating who. no respect for each other, its a dog-eat-dog culture. I have a job offer with E&Y, should I take it ? are all accounting firms like that?

would it still be better if she still wore a jacket and matching skirt? clothing stores like Macey's have racks and racks of pant suits for women--more than of dresses.

Ok here's the deal..I am in the process of attempting to get a job that I really want...I passed the phone interview process, I passed the initial face to face interview process and was selected to interview at the company's headquarters out of the state I live in. I went to the headquarters and interviewed with two different senior level managers yesterday (Friday). I was under the impression that I would be offered the job before coming home, anyways I am a bit worried now because I wasn't able to really get a good sense of security that I will be given the job. I gave a great couple of interviews and feel that I was solid in selling myself and my abilities. I will have to wait until Monday to see what the verdict will be. Is this somewhat normal for a company to make you sweat it out and for senior managers to be somewhat emotionless so you don't get overly confident or what I do under pressure? Any feedback from anyone who's gone through this?
