Ok here's the deal..I am in the process of attempting to get a job that I really want...I passed the phone interview process, I passed the initial face to face interview process and was selected to interview at the company's headquarters out of the state I live in. I went to the headquarters and interviewed with two different senior level managers yesterday (Friday). I was under the impression that I would be offered the job before coming home, anyways I am a bit worried now because I wasn't able to really get a good sense of security that I will be given the job. I gave a great couple of interviews and feel that I was solid in selling myself and my abilities. I will have to wait until Monday to see what the verdict will be. Is this somewhat normal for a company to make you sweat it out and for senior managers to be somewhat emotionless so you don't get overly confident or what I do under pressure? Any feedback from anyone who's gone through this?

It gets even more frustrating now...I emailed them yesterday saying that I appreciated their time on Friday and I look forward to hearing back from them , etc etc....The recruiter got back to me saying that she's heard good feedback but the hiring manager + his boss whom I interviewed with both want to see my reviews from my last two employers, what's killing me here is that since I left the employer before the last I moved across the state and somehow lost alot of misc. items such as my old reviews, old awards, old newsletters giving me praise...I called this employer who stated that per "company policy" they cannot give a former employee a copy of their reviews since it is company property...now I am embarrased with this potential new employer b/c it appears that I am irresponsible and I am afraid of not getting the job if I am not able to produce what they are looking for inorder to evaluate me...this is very frustrating and worrisome!

That's right. It doesn't mean you didn't perform well at the interview or that you are not enough qualified. This kind of decisions take time and the senior manager have a lot to work to do besides interviewing people.

As far as my experience I can tell you that if you passed the phone interview and the first face to face interview and they still call you to their HQ, you have very good chances of getting that job.

Success!

It's pretty unusual to get a job offer at an interview, although it does happen. It's usually at least a couple days up to a week or so before you get a formal offer, and can be even more if they are interviewing other people, or if someone in the process is on vacation or something. Did they say anything about when you might hear from them?

Good luck.

Sorry, but yes it's normal.

Maybe they are still interviewing others.

Maybe they are just slow at making a decision - they have to all get together, discuss all the candidates, vote, etc.

Maybe there is other work they have to do that takes priority.

I hope you get your answer by Monday. Good luck.
