No one online here can really answer your question as we have absolutely no familiarity with your demographics nor your background. Do you have any related experience or any transferable skills?

Are you looking to start your own business establishment as an electrician or are you looking to be employed by someone or some company?

It is definitely a good career to get into as there will always be demands for electricians anywhere in the US.

Hi, I was an Electrician in the Navy for 4 years. They send you through about 6-9 months of school. You can work on a ship, on shore, or as someone mentioned for the seabees which is a shore based special "builders" unit. I was on a ship and I learned everything from new installation to repairing old electrical components. If you are on a ship you also will learn how to run generators and keep the ship running. I learned a lot and the schoold worked from the basics of electron theory upto hands on. I would think the airforce would have a pretty good program also and they treat there people top notch. Good luck.

Applications for the apprenticeship program are taken annually (usually in June) .
The program is 4 years of schooling with 8000 hours of on the job training that is monitored in many states .
There are the quickie OJT programs but no reputable commercial project would risk hiring one of those .
They are used mainly on residential work .

Go with the real thing if you want a serious career ,
