Multiple totally different trade skills . . .

Heavy Equipment Operator , Welder , Plumber , Carpenter , Electrician . . .

Each has their own apprentice ship program .
Go down to your state employment office and get the preliminary info on the ones that interest you then apply for the apprenticeship with the union .
If your town is too small , you may have to travel to a larger town ,
But the state employment office should have the contact info .

Here is a website from the US occupational outlook handbook: http://www.bls.gov/oco and search 'construction worker' or 'carpenter' or such. They may have additional resources such as finding out about union programs and apprenticeships (I believe that one must take an exam before being accepted though not sure). The local county vo-tech school(s) may offer some trades that interest you as well. Please steer clear from those private expensive schools as they are no better than the more affordable ones providing that they are accredited with the industry field that one is interested in such as welding or carpentry.
