We started this job 3 weeks ago, we are temps. I am stuck in a room w/ a girl who is 7 yrs. younger than me. I am trying to conduct business but she always has to blurt out by singing, whisteling, laughing, passing gas, making weird throat noises, calling her friends on the phone. She is driving me crazy but it is a good job & I don't want to complain to the boss. I don't want any friction between the 2 of us. She just is not fit for the job mentally, but can do the work. How would you handle her weirdness? Oh, & she also is always dancing in her chair, making goofy arm movements. We work for the LAW somewhat. We are in our own room so no-one can see us unless the boss comes in but the girls outside of our office can hear her. I have not mentioned anything to them.

Perhaps you should talk to her, like if she is passing gas, tell her it is not cool. And if she start singing, tell her to please tone it down. By not saying or commenting anything to her you are giving her an impression that what she is doing is ok with you. Unless, you want to join her, lol, (as the saying goes if you can't beat them join them).

This may sound absurd, but are you falling for her? or is it straight business, if it is then just talk to her, maybe you can start by asking her if it is her first job, if she says yes then you can tell her that what she is doing in an office is not really cool and unprofessional like acts. If she says no, then you can ask her why she doesn't know how to act properly? You have to talk to her nicely though (nothing offensive ok?).

Well this are just sample of what you can do, sometimes you have to be creative...

Good Luck

You can try to set the example. Go to lunch with her once or twice, and behave as your mature self..... talk to her about her behavior, person to person... tell her you think it is fun, and all, but it is kind of distracting, and if she didn't mind toning it down a little bit, you'd appreciate it. It is a matter of professionalism, and you really should get your supervisor involved. Bring it up in conversation, not complaint to the supervisor, and maybe say that sometimes it gets a bit too much and you were wondering if the supervisor could talk to her about it. You are not complaining, but you fear it is interfereing with your being able to give your own 100% to the firm.

She's just juvenile, and probably has never been taught how to behave in a professional environment. Sometimes it is amazing what we can get accomplished with a little conversation.

seems that she is starved for attention so she acts ubnoxious. weather you want any kind of relationship with her or not you need to talk to her otherwise you are going to go crazy or quit.

Be Cool, act Professional- & ignore her (ESPECIALLY if your not interested in her Attention...). She may settle down once she realises you're not "interested..."
