She was told she was being fired for her attitude. No warnings or written warnings. This is all she was told. When she was denied for unemployment the employer who fired her said that she had lied and that was her reason for being fired. We live in MO - the employer doesn;t have to give any reason for letting you go. What would her chances be if she tried to appeal?

I began working at a Walgreens 3 months ago. I just finished the insane initiation fee of 320 bux to join the union. When i was first hired.. i was supposed to be trained in the photo dept. but now since the store was taken over by a new manager soon after i was hired...all i ever do is stay in the front and ring ppl up.. which is typically the job of the "newby" while there is an even NEWER guy working on the floor and being trained in the photo... I feel angery.. fed up, annoyed. Since i am in the union. i basically can't be fired...so How should i go about taking a step up and not letting them shove me to the front.. Im tired of it.. It might even be racial since i am the only white guy amongst almost all filips. any advice would help!

Hello everyone,
I would need some help about this:
I interviewed with a company and I want to send them a thank you letter and put this in the letter:
"I know that you might be looking for someone with a little bit more experience, but I assure you that I am a fast learner/hard worker, and very interested in the position"
Should I not say this? Am I putting myself down by saying this?
The reason that I want to say this is because the job requirement is a little bit more than what I actually have under my belt (I would say I would meet maybe about %80 of the requirements, and not %100 of what they want), and I asked the guy at the end of the interview about how I did, and he said "we might be looking for someone with a little bit more expereince, but we'll talk it over, and I am not the one who makes the call, and I just do the technical interview".
Please help.
Thanks.

I'm trying to get into the medical field so I can take advantage of the tution reimbursement but its next to impossible to find a job if you dont have some sort of experience in the medical field. Any suggestions?

I am about to just go try to get a job in retail, but people always ask me what I like to do, and say to figure out a way to get a job doing it! It's not that easy! Any ideas????

My boss offered me a raise. He wants to know how much more I think I deserve. I make $20/hr. right now. It has been over a year since my last raise and I heard every year there is a 5% increase in living expenses. So is $22 to much, too little to ask for? What is appropriate? What do you normally do in this situation?

Is it getting harder to find experienced employees if your company skimps on the benefit package? The reason I ask, is that I am seeking a new job and I have over ten years in my field. So far I've had four companies call me. When chatting with the HR dept during the "pre-screen" call, they have explained that either they do not offer health insurance or that they only offer it to the employee. This is a non-negotible issue for me since my daughter has a pre-existing condition that prevents us from buying private insurance. When I explain, that I am no longer interested in the position they always seem surprised and one was even angry at me.

Is anyone out there running into difficulties hiring because of the benefit package your company offers?

I'm really nervous about working my first job. I'm not good with people at all, and it's a cashier position. I'm also nervous because a lot of people I know from school work there as well, and like I said before, I'm really not good with talking to people, unless they're actually my friends. I'm afraid I'll mess up a lot. The whole experience is making me pretty anxious, but I feel like it's something I need to try out. Any tips or advice?

There are young adults who are giving up life to just live in their own apartments. I say apartments cause they can not afford any houses.Giving up life like no living to feel free always on the go and always needing to be somewhere like another job. Is this what America is protecting from the illegal immigrants? Could the govenment not cut their budgets more and allow some of the monies to go to higher wages for legal citizens?

my supervisor scheduled me from 2-6 on Friday, we are completely staffed, I work in a bank and since everyone will be there, there will be no place for me to work a window. I think it would be such a waste of time to come in and just work just 4 hours, we get 6 sick days a year and so far I have just used 1 day. It is not like I am going to be putting in any over time or anything like that also.

After losing my job F/T at the hotel, within a day, I was called by the temp agency I was registered with. It was suppose to be a "temp to hire" position. I was into the job for almost the 2nd full month. Their business had slowed down, and decided to end my assignment on Monday. This was the only temp job I've ever had. The agency said they were going to keep looking to place me, but I haven't heard anything yet.
What I need to know.....Can I collect unemployment in the meantime...going back on the hotel, since they let me go??? I cannot go without any pay for very long, next week I will only have a one day paycheck!!
I live in NY. I don't know how the laws differ from state to state.

I hate my job...really hate it.

Should I quit now, or stick it out until i find another job?

One of our co-workers quit 3 months ago, and her job duties were distributed among 3 of us, so we wouldn't have to hire another person. Our boss told us that he will RE ASSESS the situation after 3 months and mubled something about raises. So all 3 of us thought we were getting raises after 3 months by doing a good job and performing additional duties. One of us brought up to his attention that 3 months are almost up and if he is goign to be including raises in the next payroll.
Well the boss FLIPPED OUT when he heard this, he was being very defensive and the comment made him angry. He proceeded to MEMOing us by saying "there has been a big confusion and mistake" "There is no raises coming right now or in the near future." "so please if there was confusion I am sorry but we can't do any raises".

He WENT BACK on his word!!!!! what can we do to bring this issue to his attention? What should we say?

What ELSE could he mean by "reassessment" .

The process of re-determining

I have been working at a law office for about a month as a legal secretary. The partner I work for is driving 50% of the business in the firm, but she is very demanding.

Our dresscode is formal. I have been wearing pantsuits to work and she told me that was inappropriate. She said that I have to wear a skirt suit everyday with hose and closed toed shoes. That would have been fine but things have gotten stranger.

Often times she calls me into take notes. The last couple of times she has asked me to rub her feet. That seems really odd. I know she is stressed and the first time I did it was fine, but now I do it everyday. I also get her dry cleaning, fetch her lunch and do a number of other mindless chores.

She even mentioned this week that she wants me to take a class on giving pedicures? Is this okay. I like the job, it pays really well, but is this normal?

I applied for a position with a hotel last week online. So far I have participated in a phone interview, met with the manager and the director of operations, that was this past tuesday. The interview went quite well actually. I met with the manager of the department for about 30 minutes, and everything seemed great. She said she would like for me to meet the Director of Operations, so I did. Again, I think it went quite well. After we were done speaking she said ok, orientation would be in about 3 weeks. She then advised the manager to check my references. Upon leaving the manager advised me I would hear back either that day or the following day. I sent a thank you e-mail yesterday morning. It is now Thursday and I still have not heard anything. My question is: should I call tomorrow to follow up?
