Is it getting harder to find experienced employees if your company skimps on the benefit package? The reason I ask, is that I am seeking a new job and I have over ten years in my field. So far I've had four companies call me. When chatting with the HR dept during the "pre-screen" call, they have explained that either they do not offer health insurance or that they only offer it to the employee. This is a non-negotible issue for me since my daughter has a pre-existing condition that prevents us from buying private insurance. When I explain, that I am no longer interested in the position they always seem surprised and one was even angry at me.

Is anyone out there running into difficulties hiring because of the benefit package your company offers?

Yes, it is getting harder to find qualified, experienced people to work for us. My suggestion to you is to try and check out the company you are applying for on-line if possible. A number of companies will list general benefits on their company web site along with current job openings. May save you some time if you know what they offer and what they can do.

Sadly in today's corporate world health benefits are going the way of pensions and other traditions benefits packages. .Your best bet is to look for multi-nationals that have large established HR depts and aren't trying to nickel and dime you on benefits. good luck

Many companies only pay for health insurance for the employee, but allow employees to add the rest of their family at their own expense. So your daughter would have coverage...
