I'm looking to pursue a career in Nursing. I was in college but classes became costly and decided to take some time off. I'm trying to get into the medical field so I can take advantage of the tution reimbursement but its next to impossible to find a job if you dont have some sort of experience in the medical field. Any suggestions?

I had NO experience when I got hired at the local hospital where I still work now. I was working at a coffee shop before my current job where I now have been for over 3 years.
I started working as a ER registration clerk for the admitting dept. registering patients for the ER and entering their information. Now I am the Operator for the hospital. I answer phones and over head page codes and talk with engineering and security. I make EXCELLENT money for I work in the health care industry but don't have to get my hands dirty. You learn a lot just by working with the nurses and doctors and sometimes you can earn Education hours through your job where you can go to school to learn about other health care careers. I would go to your local hospital and put in an application for a per diem postition so that you can get your foot in the door. I love my job. Hospital jobs are in high demand right now.
Good Luck!

You'll need college-level training to become a nurse. It doesn't have to be a 4-year degree, there are many 2-year courses that give you the training to take your state boards for your RN.

Depending on your background and training, there might be other hospital jobs you could qualify for, and get the tuition assistance to finish a nursing course. But it's pretty hard to work full time and still get through nurses training.

Good luck.

Believe it or not, you can find A LOT! You can be a hospital operator, calling out codes, a phlebotomist is only a 6 week class, and it's easy! Filing, phones, ect. I'm sure there is more than that, but you will find something.
