I applied for a position with a hotel last week online. So far I have participated in a phone interview, met with the manager and the director of operations, that was this past tuesday. The interview went quite well actually. I met with the manager of the department for about 30 minutes, and everything seemed great. She said she would like for me to meet the Director of Operations, so I did. Again, I think it went quite well. After we were done speaking she said ok, orientation would be in about 3 weeks. She then advised the manager to check my references. Upon leaving the manager advised me I would hear back either that day or the following day. I sent a thank you e-mail yesterday morning. It is now Thursday and I still have not heard anything. My question is: should I call tomorrow to follow up?

It's a supervisory position and I met with the manager who would be my boss. She gave me her card with her direct line, so there is no outside person who would be doing the hiring.

Yup. Always call just to follow up and double check. let them know that you are excited and let them know that you can take charge and call them.

Good luck and congrats!

i would wait til monday. weekends are really busy for hotels and im sure everyone will be doing a lot of running around and not worrying about hiring until next week. call money and say something like, ' i am calling to check on the status of my application' or 'i met with ____ and he/she said he/she would be giving me a call to let me know when the orientation started but I was out of town this weekend and my phone was acting up, so I wanted to make sure I did not miss his/her call" yes, its a lie....but its logical and doesnt sound like youre being pushy.

Yes I would call, but I would wait Friday. Give it enough time so it doesn't seem as if you are being pushy, but not enough to make them feel as if you forgot. Call to "thank them and to check on the status of your application and discuss next steps." You don't want to seem as if the job is a given, but to express graitude for the opportunity while giving them a kick in the butt.

In every job I was successful acquiring, my first step was to send a thank you letter for allow you to have the interview. Then also beef up your skills more in the letter. Then I waited a week to see if I was called, but they usually call before that.
