After losing my job F/T at the hotel, within a day, I was called by the temp agency I was registered with. It was suppose to be a "temp to hire" position. I was into the job for almost the 2nd full month. Their business had slowed down, and decided to end my assignment on Monday. This was the only temp job I've ever had. The agency said they were going to keep looking to place me, but I haven't heard anything yet.
What I need to know.....Can I collect unemployment in the meantime...going back on the hotel, since they let me go??? I cannot go without any pay for very long, next week I will only have a one day paycheck!!
I live in NY. I don't know how the laws differ from state to state.

Since your assingment ended, you may continue collecting unemployment until you do find a job on your own. Temp agency are nothing but LIES. Every time they say temp-to-hire, they never seem to hire that temp because the invoice costs too much for the company to pay that staffing agency. So, continue searching on your own and interviewing. good luck.

As long as you don't leave the position voluntarily (IE you quit), you should be able to draw unemployment benefits.

Most unemployment requires a one week period per year where you won't receive money. The moment you are released go to your local employment office and file a claim. The clock starts ticking at that time.

They will do the best they can to find work for you and you will be required to apply and interview for the positions they match you to in order to maintain your benefits.

First you're able to desire to appreciate that the Temp enterprise did no longer something incorrect. they do no longer write the regulation. They answer the questions unquestionably whilst requested via the UI enterprise and the enterprise makes the call. in case you refused reassignments that have been even on the brink of your unique task on the temp enterprise you supply up. The state sees no distinction. in case you're able to desire to no longer take an task by fact of your vehicle that's your fault. no longer the temp enterprise and not the state.

Call the unemployment office in your state. They will be able to answer your questions. That's what they are there for. And, yes, I believe you are entitled to benefits, but you need to call and ask the question.
