I've been doing inside sales for an electronics store for 6 months now and I like it. I'm definately not the greatest sales person but I think I am above average and I give excellent customer service on top of that. Anyways I just wanted to ask if 6 months is enough experience to get a real sales job that will give me some real money? Cars? Loan Officer? What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

I recently got this job at Wal Mart riding a brand new Kowaasakii floor buffer with power steering and abs breaking system. after i was done buffing the floor at 4am i was racing a new guy who was riding an older '83 model Hoover 4RT. He bet me money that he could beat me down the center isle and i took the challenge. As I turned the corner My brand new Firestone tires slid on hot wax and I wrecked into the video game showcase. I couldn't get my buffer pulled from the showcase and glass was all over the floor.. I got scared and went home while the riding floor buffer was still lodged in the showcase. Later i got a phone call from the store manager and he's tryin to get my fired... could someone please give me some legaal advice to save my job ?

So I was browsing craigslist to find myself an office job. I found an ad I had some interest in, and sent them my resume. They emailed me back with their website, and asked me if I was interested in their organizations. The organization's goal is to try to spread different types of cultures around the city, states, everywhere. They hold cultural concerts and art showcases in the city. I really want this job, but I am not sure what to reply with in my next e-mail to show that I can contribute to the success of their organization. Please help? Thanks in advanced!

but this is a unique situation.
My husband and I need some help. I am visually impaired and am dealing with other neurological disorders that mostly involve motor function. (walking, lifting, climbing, etc) I can no longer drive. But I can adjust my computer to compensate for my eye issues.

My husband is working full time at a factory making 14.25 an hour. (Just to let you know where we are financially.) This job is going to Mexico in less than a year, so between the two of us, we need to replace his income. I say both of us because I would love to find a job that we can both do from home, so he can be here to assist with housework and taking care of our two boys, and yet we'll have enough income to pay the bills.

If you have any ideas or suggestions about online job opportunities (NOT our own business...we can't afford to take a chance on it's success or failure) I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance
Blessings

My father got laid off at the end of his shift today--no notice, just laid off, wouldn't explain why besides "lowering head count". Is this legal? Can you be laid off without any sort of notice at all?

Does anyone have any insight on what it takes to be a Sales Manager for a radio station? I have an offer on the table and I'm stuck becaused this would be the first job I have taken that is paid 100% commission. This seems like a huge risk for me. But they have shown me that the growth and market conditions are stable enough were I will be making much more than what I earn now. I have always believed that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Anyone have any thoughts on this one???

How many of you have lost a job due to restructuring.??
Could you see it coming?? Were you glad to get out of there? Was your next job as good, or better?? Would you go back if you had the chance?
--
Once the shock wore off, I was glad to be out of there.
I was unemploted for 6 weeks until I found another job. It wasn't what I had in mind but it looked like a decent place to work until something better came along.
As time went on, it became better and better and I stopped looking for something better. Would I go back? NO way. NFW!

I absolutely hate it. It's like you're their psychologist and you have to hear them go on and on about how so-and-so did them wrong and who to stay away from, etc. All that I have to say is... Who cares? Seriously, I really don't care; I'm just here to do my work. I'm not here to listen to you complain about Jesse for stealing your man.

I am 17 years old and have been trying for a few weeks to get a job. I have my first interview tomorrow (thankfully), but in case that doesn't work, I need a back up plan. I've applied to almost ten stores, and the only store to actually give me an interview was Target, where I filled out the application in the store. I was told that I failed the assessment tests at both Sears and Best Buy, and there's a good chance I failed at all of the stores that I couldn't get in touch with too. I am a straight A student in Honors and College-Level courses, and I really don't see why I can't get a job! Sadly, there is no place to put my GPA on applications.
What can I do to pass these tests? They are the personality tests that you take while filling out the application.

The application part where it says "your past employment & experience" ---

besides tutoring and teaching random kidsf from my church how to play the violin
oh, and a temporary job as a pet sitter over break (which ended as my employer and i got into a huge argument)
I HAVE NOTHING!!

Problem is, I don't keep in contact with any of the kids I used to teach... and the pet sitting employer will probably say bad things about me if contacted...

questions are:::
1]]] so SHOULD I JUST NOT WRITE DOWN ANYTHING and pretend i never worked????!!!?? 2]]] ...or do you think it's a good idea write down different # (for the tutoring part - since i was privately employed)?

3]]] or if i put all the info down and check "no" where it says "could we contact that employer?"...............will they really not contact them?

4]]] and for that, will they think weird - like all suspicious and stuff???

help me pleasee!!!

I will be graduating from college in August, and I have a job interview next week! I am pretty nervous and have a few questions. Since this is my first "professional" job interview - what type of things can I expect? What should I wear? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances, or is it ultimately up to them in the end?

Suggestions, ideas, and motivations appreciated! ^_^

I've been looking for a job for a while in computer techology and I just moved to Fallbrook, CA so I decided to apply to various jobs around the area. Long story short, I applied to the Casino and was hired as a reservations agent with low pay but great, full benefits. Now, they are doing a long, extensive background check. In the process I received an offer from another place. It's a less known company but they also have benefits and the position would be in a computer related field.

Here are the two companies and position:
Casino

Other company

Any suggestions?

I most recently worked as an office supervisor/executive assistant. I started as a receptionist & worked my way up over the next 3 years. My existing skills include: typing, filing, proficient in MS Office (although I only have working knowledge, not mastery, of Excel), experience with PhotoShop, friendly & professional phone manner, etc. I have a college degree, but not in a business field.

Specifically, I am looking into taking classes to increase my employability. I have considered studying to get the MS Office certifications. I am also curious about what the local tech school's "Medical Coding" classes are.

Any thoughts? Especially from anyone who does hiring, what would you look for in terms of training/education for an office worker?

I am 28 and would like to switch careers and have always wanted to present the news on t.v. I really belive I would excel at this but do not know where to start. I know I need to begin with an entry level position but I'm not sure how to go about it. All of the online sites suggest an internship but at this point in my life I cannot work without pay. Does anyone have any expertise/suggestions on this?

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, but I was having trouble searching for a similar question.

Anyway, I worked at the job for 3+ years, was promoted there twice, and more than doubled my starting hourly wage through raises, so I was clearly a valued employee.

I was terminated (not laid off) suddenly during a time of "corporate restructuring" ; my attitude and job performance were suffering because of unhappiness with the changes, and I was looking for another job. They listed on my termination notice "multiple breach of company policy."

I can't just leave them off my work history, because this place is where I gained most of my relevant work experience.

How do I handle this on my resume, on applications, and in interviews? (I have been on 7 job interviews, and suspect that I am either blowing it on this issue, or the past employer is screwing me up on references)

i went on an interview with a pretty big name company last week tuesday, they said they would be making a decision soon on the position, but i havent heard from them, nor have any of my references been called for verification. Does that mean I didn't get the job? The job required everything I'm doing now except the company is bigger and has more opportunities, so I know I'm qualified, but just want to know if they normally take more than a week or since they said soon they meant asap?

In a nutshell, i was with my boss and antoher coworker. we were supposed to have a celebration on monday and we then decided we would do it on tuesday. He kept asking this other coworker if he thought people would mind (the other coworker (like myself) should his head like 'ofcourse not' b/c it really wasn't a big deal. So I said with a smile and very professoinal "Why would you imagine they would mind?" Well, it was a genuine question, then he looked at me and said "Its a consensus, Mary, it's called a consnensus." He said it in such a condescending tone i felt red and embarrased. What would you do. Thanks to everyone for their guidance.
