i went on an interview with a pretty big name company last week tuesday, they said they would be making a decision soon on the position, but i havent heard from them, nor have any of my references been called for verification. Does that mean I didn't get the job? The job required everything I'm doing now except the company is bigger and has more opportunities, so I know I'm qualified, but just want to know if they normally take more than a week or since they said soon they meant asap?

Sometimes weeks, usually in a large corporation there are many applicants they have to go through. Took me a couple of months and 4-5 interviews (with a week or two in between) to get into where I am at.

did you send a thank you card to the interviewer?

You can also call and ask if they have made a decision. If you didn't get the job who cares what they think of you, and if they are still deciding then you just reminded them that you are still there. The squicky wheel gets the most oil.
