I am 28 and would like to switch careers and have always wanted to present the news on t.v. I really belive I would excel at this but do not know where to start. I know I need to begin with an entry level position but I'm not sure how to go about it. All of the online sites suggest an internship but at this point in my life I cannot work without pay. Does anyone have any expertise/suggestions on this?

Begin by creating your own news show on YouTube. Get the morning newspaper and write out three top stories and read it into your camera everyday and post it on YouTube.
Always include a URL to an affiliate program at the beginning and at the end to something that you will make a decent commission on.

You will get good at it and you will make a name for yourself. Once you have a good sized following, submit a press release about yourself to all the major news networks. You will get picked up if you have marketed yourself well enough.

You can get tips and techniques like this on my Product In A Weekend Newsletter and Blog. See the resources below.

Get a degree then start asking for unpaid internships at TV stations in small markets.

Work your way up to major markets.

Always network with professionals in your field and never stop learning.

Good Luck,

If you can get your foot in the door at a local (small market) TV station, then maybe you can work your way up to reporter.
