I'm almost to my two year point at my job and I will get a really great retirement plan. I've been waiting for it for 2 years and seems silly to quit and not do it at all

The job is 30 minutes away and gas is expensive

My car isn't the best of cars nor does it get good gas mileage

If I'm pregnant I want to be a stay at home mom.

I don't even know how much it would pay

I'm sure they will hire again in the future.

What do you think?

I currently work for a large company. I recently sent a resume and cover letter to a small company. The company looked like a great opportunity and an interesting place to work. I would possibly even consider taking a pay cut to work there if it is as good as it looks. I received a response from the CEO telling me that I was perfect for the job, but he doesn't think he can compete with the salary my company pays. Is this an indication that he thinks I'm overqualified or he has another person in mind for the job already? We didn't discuss salary numbers at all. What should I tell him?

I am a recent university graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from a prestigious university. However, I would like to go into finance and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what kind of job opportunities I can pursue? I have a fairly high quantitative aptitude (I took a full-length, timed GMAT yesterday for the first time, without practice, and scored a 720). Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

I'm thirty nine years old and very introverted (let's say practically anitsocial!) and work in Civil Service (N.Y. City municipal agency) as a Supervisor in the Records Management Unit. While it is back office and I only have to manage a staff of three, it is boring, tedious, and mindless work spent doing repetitive data entry, information research, answering telephone questions of employees about their personnel files; and living in one of the boroughs of N.Y.C. the salary sucks - $45,000.00 I couldn't even afford a studio apartment on that if I wasn't married! I can be charming and friendly if forced to, am fairly intelligent, very well spoken, and have been told by numerous people that I "write very well." Since receiving my Bachelor's Degree in 1991 I've not enrolled in any sort of academic program. I desperately need a career chage but am hampered by my solitary nature and fear of socializing. I also need to earn about $65K to feel financially secure. Advice?

For a server / bartender , What is the reason for this: every place, does the interview, and then says that they'll call you if they need someone for that position.

I keep hearing from Civil Engineering companies that they can't find qualified applicants to fill their positions and complain there is a shortage of engineers in America. Which there are no statistics or evidence supporting that claim.

I'm trying to find out a concrete answer to this vague and ambiguous question.

My situation: I gamble way too much. I just left a Manager Level Corporate Job to become a consultant. On my new job I'll have to travel to client sites each week and back to my state of residence. Because I have gambled away all of my cash and credit (literally down to $11 cash i have left) I'm sort of stuck. I have no family that I can go to and it's too embarrassing to ask friends although I'm not sure they could help either. What I really need to know is how to ask my new employer to cover my travel expenses for me without revealing my personal situation... Please offer answers on that only. I don't need to be beaten up over letting myself get into this situation.

I work in customer service, taking calls from my home for a corporation. The daily shift is 8 hours and I am on the phone at least 5 hours, most of the times 6 hours. Does $12.00 an hour seem like a fair compensation for call center type of work such as mine, or am I being exploited ? Company does provide some benefits. Thanks so much !

I am about to go on maternity leave. By law I am allowed to take up to 12 weeks off. However, I only have about 6 weeks worth of sick and vacation time accrued and my employer has informed that if I go on unpaid leave, whether it be because I choose to or because I have to (if I'm not well enough to come back after those 6 weeks) that I will have to reimburse them for insurance benefits they pay while I am on leave without pay. It sounds fair enough and I've tried looking up any laws regarding this but can't find any, and many folks I've explained this to find it suspicious. Thanks for your help.

About a month ago a coworker brought up an error I had made to my boss. As humilated as I was I decided that I needed to pay more attention to detail as a result of this. I was angry because this coworker and I work together daily and when she makes errors I correct them without making a scene or even telling her sometimes. Of course, I could not use this argument with boss so I decided to start documenting. In the last 30 days this coworker has made 13 errors. Each error I alert the coworker to make corrections and return to me via email. Instead of pointing this out to my boss I alerted my coworker that there were quite a few errors being made on their end. I said this in the most tactful way. Now my coworker is saying that I changed their information to look like they've made these mistakes. I've got solid proof including emails from her that this is untrue. She is threatening to report me. Should I tell my boss first and show her the emails or wait and see what she does first?

Anyone can help me? Greatly appreciated!
