Has any1 ever been called back when the manager says they don't know if they need any1 for the position?
For a server / bartender , What is the reason for this: every place, does the interview, and then says that they'll call you if they need someone for that position.

Were they advertising for the position? If so, then they're probably trying to be polite rather than blunt, and are telling you that you didn't get the job.

If they weren't advertising an opening and you just went in and applied, then it might mean just what they said.

They are being polite or have filled the position. Best bet is to check back with them and see if anything has opened up. If the are "on the fence" about hiring you, it shows you are a go getter.

Escpecially in the restaurant business, they need people in a hurry. Many times they'll pre-intervoew and call from the stack when they need someone.
