2 weeks ago I told a coworker that I might ask a manager about going full-time from part-time. It gets back to our team lead and she tells me it's a great idea 'cause she thinks I work hard and should get paid for it and that she'd talk to the dept. manager herself. So, the dept. manager loves the idea, but needs to talk to the store manager. Meanwhile i get offered a full-time job with another company making more money. So I go into work that same day and turn in my 2 weeks notice, and they end up offering me a full-time position and an extra $1.25 added to my pay which is .25 more than the other place. So I accept the offer 'cause I kinda like the job. But lately my team lead has been acting weird towards me and yesterday the schedule came out and I think that I overheard her complaining about me and how I got more hours than her, when she's on vacation for most of the week. She's the one that wanted this! I'm really considering taking the other offer while I still can, should I?

I think the operative condition here is referred to as
"Adult ADD." But there is also a total lack of common
sense involved, leading to constant stupid mistakes
made over and over again. Relax, and mistakes get
made. Go on "red alert", and the f@#$-ups get even
WORSE.
So, what sort of jobs require NO common sense, involve
working ALONE (this is extremely important!) and offer
enough money to at least get you into a flea-bag apartment
with money left over for necessities? Any ideas?

Is telling a person you are too over qualified a nice way to say, you don't have the job even though you score extremely high on all tests?

Anyone ever had that happen?

I was told that I was over qualified because of my scores, and that I should be in management and not entry level.

I am 40 years old have over 18 years experience in my field. I am extremely good at what I do for a living. I am interviewing for a position at a new company and they prefer a degree. I, sorry to say, only have 1 year of college. What do I say about this? How to I get around this issue? Its on my resume, would they call me in if were that big of an issue? Is there a special phrase, something I can say that that distracts from this fact?

I'm a college student who was looking for a summer job and contacted a summer theater. The artistic director offered me $300/week to run sound. This would mean for rehearsals & shows,no more than standard 40 hr. work week. The contract I was actually sent was for $275/week as sound technician/scenic painter, with no mention of hours.I was wary, but signed it.

On my first day of work I was told that I would be working whenever the technical director wanted me to.For the first 2 weeks this meant 6 days/week,8 hrs/day. I wasn't happy with another change, but was ok with an extra 8 hrs.Next they tell me no more days off & work 9-midnight.Then my bf was in a very bad car wreck & I took 3 days off to be at the hospital & take care of him,& I need to take another 3 days to get him home.My boss freaked & screamed at me for 20 min on the phone, calling me lazy, underhanded,&ungrateful.

I hate the pay, ridiculous hours, unreasonable boss,& I need time for my bf & my sister who is sick.Quit now?

Ok, what I really would like to do with my life is to be a romance novelist. I know I could do it and I know I would be good at it and I've even started writing my first novel. But how hard is it to be a novelist like that? What are the chances of being successful? Like, Johanna Lindsey successful? And she started off as a horrible writer and her last book was horrible but yet she is one of the queens of romance. How does it work? You sell your first book? Get a publisher? etc etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

My boss called me into her office this week to tell me that Human Resources was wanting to cut my pay. I have been on my job for 12 years. They are saying that I make too much money for my position but I just received a raise 2 months ago. I have a different boss and different HR than when i started my job. I was promoted to my position after the former supervisor died. I was the next most qualified. HR approved it. They also approved me getting a pay raise with the promotion. I have been in the same position for about 8 years. So, can my employer do this? I searched on the Department of Labor but there is so much stuff on there I couldn't find what i was looking for. Could someone please help me out?

I had listed one assistant manager as a reference for my job. They called him but he said he was busy because he wanted to discuss what to say with them first. I don't want them to have to repeatedly call him and look like he's no cooperative. My other 3 references did cooperate though. I was wondering in the event this one assistant manager never responds back to them, will it destroy my chances of getting this job with this company? I know for the future not to use him as one, but I really need to push this one through without incident. He said we can meet up on Monday to discuss it further so he can call them back. Am I just being paranoid?
