im not sure about virginia, but you should look into temp agencies. Temp agencies are great because you can list your skills and take typing tests there and even if you don't have typing skills, they can find you jobs for clerical type work ie: stuffing envelopes and answering phones. It's a great way to start developing office skills. I went to an agency after being at different jobs and stayed with the agency with 5 years working at different places and finally being hired.

You are able to decline jobs that simply don't interest you. You can work from a day to several, to weeks, even to years. You get paid weekly I believe. Definitely look into it! You even set how much you want to get paid. I would start with $8.00 an hour if you don't have any office skills and you can always change your rate after learning some new skills. Good Luck!

I live in DC and have been looking for an admin/clerical position so I've spent hours online looking for a job. You don't say where in VA you are so it's kind of hard to give you a good answer. I've noticed a lot of jobs in Fairfax and Fredricksburg. Your best bet would be to check out www.job-hunt.org and choose Virginia. Have you thought about getting a state job? Most states have entry level positions that require a hs degree and maybe a skills test. The pay may not be as high as a private company but the benefits tend to be good. I would start there if I were you. There is a link to the state jobs on the site I listed. Good luck.

Look into going to DC or the Hampton Roads area. Those are probably the best places to look for entry level positions.
