What are the chances that they'd publish your book, if it's really really good? Do they buy it and you get paid for it? Or do you get money if people buy it? etc etc.

I one day hope to have published a book, but I know that's a tough business to break into. But I love writing, I write so much and I think it would be great if I could find a career where that was a focus. I'm currently at a community college working in a generic associate in arts degree (university transfer) and I looked through the catalog...and they don't really have anything that caters to writing besides two creative writings courses with no attachments to a specific degree. I plan to take them both, but I'm just in limbo taking random classes. I've thought about journalism, what kind of career is that and stuff? (well what it is is obvious haha.). Any thoughts would be great :)

I have pasted below a direct quote from one of the many on-line job search engines? (the errors are real too)
Would you say this is an accurate statement? Are they really saying that I need to re-create my resume in the body of an email?

Tech Format:

Hiring managers have short attention spans. These people will not click on a link and visit your website. They will not read an attachment. Therefore, you must include your resume in the email text.
The email should be in ASCII text. Most hiring managers do not use applications that support HTML. Make sure you're not sending HTML email by checking the preferences of your mail client. your mail client.
Set your page width to "narrow" (60 characters max. per line). Use a hard return at the end of each line if you are in doubt.
Forget about trying to line up vertical columns, etc. They will not hold their alignment. They will look silly.
All headings should be capitalized. Lists should be set off by dashes (-) or asterisks

I just got hired in a retail setting but the store I work in is always empty with no or little customers. On average maybe only 10 customers come in per day. i was hoping that my main job would be sales, but since there are barely any customers I am really dissapointed with the position and I'm always bored there. What is a nice way of telling my boss that I'm going to quit because of this reason?

This person does similar things that I do and seems to have a lot of competitive advantages over me: better knowledge, more spare time (no family). Recently my manager offered me a possibility to grow, but now I feel that this person could be better at all the things that I am doing.

Went to an interview about 5 years ago. They had me come to their "District Office" in an older strip center. The secretary had me go back to talk to the "recruiting manager". His office was rather large, but the only furniture was a metal cabinet, two chairs and his desk, which looked older than he was. The guy then gave me a very rapid speech about making money promoting national products. He kept saying,how does that sound?" over and over again throughout his speech. I needed a job, so I agreed to go to their south office the next day. I got there and they assigned me to a "marketing manager." The guy then took me across town to an office park. He said we were going to be "marketing our promotions" to folks. What it all was, we were going door-to-door selling cheap crap. $5 fountains, the motors were louder than the water. $20 picnic sets that did not include plates. They said they marketed for Fortune 500 companies like disney, samsonite and Time-Warner. It was bull.

I heard somewhere that you can hire people to cry at funerals. They are called wailers.
How do you become one?
How do you get jobs? "crystal clear tears for half an hour, 100% guaranteed"

i agreed to it because i thought it was temporary. when it became apparent that he was going to keep me for awhile, i asked that he put me on the payroll, but he refused. then he cut my hours and i'm sure is about to fire me.

I would like to enter the career of being an Oyster Shucker. I was watching Dirty Jobs the other night and did some math and this is a very lucrative career to get into. My questions are:

-Where areoysters boats being docked across the US?
-What are the requirements of becoming an Oyster Shucker?
-What are the pros and cons of it?
-Are there are any independent or major corporations that employe Oyster Shuckers?
-Are there any websites out there with any other information?

Does anyone know of any cases where an employee is to be made redundant, but has found alternative employment before being served their redundancy notice and therefore not received payment.

Any weblinks would be appreciated

~~~ My boss,,grrrr. We ask him questions, for example we need to go through our boss to get supplies, he has to OK our supply order, or if there is information we need to know, we have to get the final confirmed information from our boss. We email him, ask him in person,,,its always I'll get to that,,,,sometimes weeks go by with out an answer,,, so when I do go over his head and ask "his" boss about certain issues,,,my boss goes crazy and starts ranting and raving "there she goes! going over my head!!!!!!!" and when I say,,but in order for me to do my job correctly,,I need these issues addressed asap,,,,,(most of these issues are a quick yes or no answer, no research needed,,,,just yes or no answer )
This boss of mine is usually on the internet or on his cell phone talking to his wife,,,,,,never really "there" for his imediate employees,,,,I cant go to personell because my boss and head of personel are "drinking buddies" there is no confidentiality if I talk to personel.......
My manager is my boyfriend's sister. To make a long story short, after a small argument with her, I decided to put in my two weeks yesterday because when situations occur in the store, it's hard for me to take criticism from her when I have a certain more personal relationship with her.
She was seriously offended and said it was like a slap in the face. She told me that today would be my last day to avoid "tension" in the store.
Well, I wanted to stay the two weeks for the money while I find a new job. If she's letting me go, should I still get paid out for the next 2 weeks because I wanted to stay and finish them out, but it was HER decision to let me go?
