My nephew worked at Chucky Cheese for a summer. He handed out coins and helped the kids with the video games. It was perfect for him. Do you have a specific career in mind? Try to find someplace that will give you some practical experience. It may give you the edge to get that job after you get out of college. You are going to college, aren't you? College will make the biggest difference in the rest of your life and how you live it. That's my lecture for the day.

It's really hard at 16 to get a job somewhere acceptable. Your first few jobs are going to be bombs. Most girls in my area got jobs at local restaurants bussing tables. It's pretty good money and most get cash tips at the end of the night.

You could try working in retail, but that takes a LOT of discipline. Not only do you need to be completely attentive to the money you take in and give out, you also need to be presentable and ready to work extra time on persuading and schmoozing people to buy things. Plus the pay is usually garbage.

Try putting in an application or two for a clothing store.
