Well have you?

I had this question once, and singled out one or two customers, such as the time you carried stuff to the customers car, or learnt to recognise a regular and have their order waiting, or made the first move and called them to let them know before they had to ring and ask. If it can be 'long term' customer service, like building up a (professional) relationship with them, then great. I followed up with "I would expect all my customers to be more than pleased with the service they receive as I feel that customer service is of the utmost importance - I always like to feel that I am a valued customer and therefore ensure that all of my customers leave with that feeling". Smarmy? Yes. Did I get the job? Yes. Be honest though, porkies in an interview is not good!

Good luck.

Well, its pretty easy, assuming that you have in fact 'gone the extra mile'. Any situation where you have done anything in your job that has exceeded what your customers or superiors expected in that situation, if you can, describe how your customers reacted to your actions. Feel free to embellish a little bit too, but not too much otherwise your interviewers might see through you.

If you haven't had the opportunity to that for anyone in a professional setting, say that you haven't and describe a similar situation in a family or social setting and explain that your attitude in situations like this are the same when you are at work.

And if all esle fails, make up a really good story, BEFOREHAND!!!

Good luck. ;-)

The phrase is - or should be ".... ever GONE that extra mile ... " Some people are keen on good English. Madame M's advice is good. Take it. Honesty will serve you better than an unconvincing lie. But do try to look as if you haven't been warned of the question. Think a second before you trot out the answer. Good luck!

Whenever you did a little extra for someone above and beyond the call of duty remember good customer care is to exceed the expectation of the customer

i was asked this q when i applied for my first customer service position. i didnt have experience, and i told them that. i told them all the things i thought would mean going that extra mile, all the things that i would want done if i was the customer.

i got hired on to the most selective group within the company i worked for for customer service, based on the fact that even though i didnt have experience, i knew what ppl expected.

good luck on the interview and remember, honesty is the best policy

Remember it is not your answer that will get you selected, it is the way you say it.

As far as I can see you have a potential customer in your potential employer. What extra mile did you go to in order to give that potential employer the best answer to the question they have posed?

An honest one, but you can turn it around to make yourself look good.

For example,

"To be honest, my previous job didn't allow me a lot of direct contact with customers and clients. But I know that ultimately, it's the satisfied customers who are paying my salary, so I always have strived to do my best."

Then change the subject as soon as you can!

how about when it comes to your t break time you never left a customer hanging while you found cover, that you stayed with that customer untill they were satisfied and left with or without a purchase.
